I found this book through searching for reference books on US cities. All I knew was that I wasn't happy in my current location but had no idea where to even start. Enter Relocation Guide. It literally walks you through everything you would never think about on your own about where the perfect location is for you. I'm only on Chapter 4 but already feel comfertable enough to have narrowed down my city search to a specific area. This book is perfect for anyone who is looking to improve their living situation. While the chapters are long and do in fact take at least an hour to complete, it is well worth the time and effort. Highly recommend this book!!!

This great workbook will help you clarify your thoughts regarding a move to somewhere else. It strikes just the right balance between advice/guidance and free-form questions that draw forth your own thoughts. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of jotting down my responses and being led through the journey. The author also keeps you on track by suggesting that you take concrete steps now -- at your own pace. For instance, if you're not ready to drop everything and move across the world next week, she has you choose a plan you'll find comfortable, anywhere from baby steps (doing Internet research about your chosen area) to intermediate (living there during a trial run) and so on.

Get ready to relocate!,

Moving can be a scary and frustrating process, but finding the right place to live out your dreams is wonderful! This book is an excellent tool for people who are ready to relocate or who are just thinking about it. Barbara knows what she's talking about because she herself has lived all over the world and chosen to relocate more than once. This book is not a guide; it is a workbook. I don't mind using a workbook, but I wouldn't have spent over $20 on it if I'd known. Relocation guidance and tips are scant and the font is large ... probably to increase the number of pages in the book to make it seem more "weighty". Some of the author's suggestions have new age leanings. For example, the author suggests that I look for indications in my body (like cramping, stomach aches, etc) for hints whether I'd like a location or not. People who study new age philosophy may find this helpful; I don't.The few images included in the book are fuzzy and poor quality. The book overall does not appear professionally produced. Not recommended.

Personally I can't imagine living somewhere that wasn't really right for me and my family. Make the Right Move Now can be an invaluable guide in evaluating locales, choosing if a move is right, and then making the move that will be best for you.I like the suggested exercises and really appreciate the deeper questions the author poses ("What's the worst thing that could happen if you relocated?" "What's the best thing that could happen?" are only two examples). The author puts forth a number of considerations which may seem like a lot at first, but if you address those most important to you in the step-by-step manner she provides, I think it really helps you to more thoroughly evaluate all the aspects of life you'll encounter if you choose to live somewhere (as opposed to simply visiting a specific place). Bottom line, if you're considering a move, use this book before you pack up and relocate. |
