Originally released as a free MP3 via www.npgonlineltd.com, earlier this year, this CD Audio format should herald the return of Prince to a wider audience.

U Make My Sunshine is a beautiful, soulful duet with Angie Stone and recalls the greatness of such Prince classics as 'Adore' (from Sign 'o' Times , 1987) and 'The Most Beautiful Girl In The World' (The Beautiful experience, 1994). In addition to the redemable musical qualities of the track, the lyrics are also notable, as they seek to enlighten and elevate relations between the sexes, rather than oppose and alienate them (Like most of todays factory made, processed R & B fodder). This track also features backing vocals by the new girl group Milenia and Kip Blackshire.

The flip-side of the single moves into new musical territory with Prince offering a fiery, passionate version of the Staples Singers classic 'When Will We Be Paid'. In direct contrast to the retro feel of 'U Make My Sun Shine', this track employs a more contemporary production, with errie, bleeping keyboard sounds and a sullen, bass heavy electro beat.

"U Make My Sun Shine" is a beautiful love song laced with a soulful gospel sound -- Angie Stone and Prince sound great together! "When Will We Be Paid?" is also excellent -- Prince is angry and assertive on this track.

I love this song.. I too was just flipping through programs when I caught the last part of the video. I had to have it.. I searched all around and finally found it online. It relaxes me and makes me feel very enlightened. I highly recommend it!

Flipping through the channels on TV one afternoon, I came across the video for "U Make My Sun Shine" on BET. It was one of those moments when nothing in the world matters except for getting your hands on the song. After a scavenger hunt of trying to find this CD, and hearing various release dates, I found it and was at peace. How can you not love UMMSS? If you like "Untitled (How does it feel?)" by D'Angelo, you will like this. It has put me to sleep ever since I've gotten it. Flip side...I am not a big fan of "When Will We Be Paid?" Although it may grow on you if you listen to UMMSS as many times as I do, and being that it follows, you may occasionally find yourself humming along, but the lullabye quality that UMMSS has is definitely not present in this funk tune. Overall, the CD brings intrigue and more anticipation for "The Rainbow Children."

I love these songs! U Make My Sun Shine is a great R&B song and would definitely have been a huge hit for Prince if he were in his heyday of popularity. It's great hearing Angie Stong on the song. When Will B Paid is the perfect B-Side - raw, emotional with piercing guitars and lyrics. He does wonders with a classic from The Staples Singers.

He's done it again. I know it's only two song but this time less is more. He made a cd that is beautiful to listen to, meaningful and inspring all at the same time. By teaming up with Angie Stone he has made something very creative and strong. Angie has a very beautiful voice and U Make My Sun Shine compliments them both. It shows that Prince once again can change his sound and give a very different feel to his music. This cd is the deepest of Prince yet.
