4.0 out of 5 stars A Superb Ballad...
"U Make My Sunshine" is definitely up there with the classic Prince ballads we know the Purple One is so capable of. Very smooth falsetto by Prince, with an angelic gospel sounding chorus thanks to Milenia and Kip Blackshire. Angie Stone really brings this song to life with her co-lead vocals. 3.0 out of 5 stars He's name is Prince again
"When will i be paid" is a great song, Prince is a great talent, etc, etc. Ok. But i would like to thank Prince because he showed me Miss Angie Stone. She's just marvelous. I bought her two records, and they're bright. "You make my sun shine" is a good song too, but Stone's two solo albuns are better. And Prince's "Babylon Children", his last...

Very smooth falsetto by Prince, with an angelic gospel sounding chorus thanks to Milenia and Kip Blackshire. Angie Stone really brings this song to life with her co-lead vocals. This songs deserves a great deal of airplay because it is one of the best RnB songs in an age where the musical style is tending to becoming monotonous. Truly magical.

4.0 out of 5 stars He's coming back, critics, April 11, 2002

Prince releases a double A-side with Angie Stone featuring. She adds a spice to 'U Make My Sun Shine' and reminds me of Rosie Gaines back in 1991. Prince is impressive, too and his lyrics are typical on this tracks- sexual seductiveness and spirituality. But in 'When Will We B Paid?', he takes the rare step of singing a song not written by him. It was written by Randall Stewart but nevertheless we are left with a cousin of 'Purple Rain' and 'I hate U' with Prince's typiacl voice and cracking guitar solos which help to make this CD a cracking purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars In the midst of madness he still can make a hit, January 11, 2007
This review is from: U Make My Sun Shine b/w When Will We Be Paid? (Audio CD)
I am a Prince fan from way back. You know "1999", "When doves cry", and even up to about around the Graffitti Bridge album, but then my man got a little weird for me and I wondered where he had went. However, in the midst of all that crazy music or soon after he managed to put out this really pretty song. Prince and Angie Stone sound beautiful together singing this song. He reminds you that he can be a romantic without including all the freakiness. Love this song.

"U Make My Sun Shine" is the most typical Prince R&B ballad ever. It's appallingly boring, for Prince. On the other hand, "When Will We B Paid?" is a magnificent soundscape of heart-felt conviction. How could anyone complain about lack of sauce? Prince ain't been this tangy in a long time...a long time.

Prince does it again. He puts together another beauitful CD. It's cross between NewPowerSoul,Emanicpation, and Around the World in a Day. This CD is very deep as he explores and new styles.

What happened to the brilliant melodies? At least Rave had those. This is nice to listen to, but it definetly doesn't stick to ones ribs. We need sauce with our ribs Prince! Get me a bottle of bullseye and call me when your not busy preening in the mirror.
