Book Description

Speed dating--hah! Nicholas Boothman will have you finding not just the possibility of love, but the love of your life--and will show you how to have that person fall in love with you a mere 90 minutes after you meet. Author of How to Make People Like You in 90 Seconds or Less, the Dale Carnegie for a rushed era (The New York Times) with 136,000 copies in print, Boothman is an expert on helping people connect. Now he focuses on romance--showing the reader first how to find and then how to connect with his or her Matched Opposite (i.e., the person who completes you).

Beginning with a series of revealing self-assessment tests, you discover who you are, and then discover who best suits your personality. (Analytical types should look for Matched Opposites who make them feel intelligent; Supporters need Matched Opposites who make them feel valued.) Then come the tools that make the quest work: how to get out there, with the Two Simple Rules of Socializing; how to make a fabulous first impression, with tips on everything from attitude to accessories; how to be charming, not alarming; introductions, opening lines, and the 1-2-3 mantra of never hesitating. There are techniques for starting and maintaining conversation and for finding Me Too triggers, plus the importance of flirting, incidental touching, rules of self-disclosure, and more. Real-life examples and detailed analyses of actual conversations show the method at work--and why the feedback Boothman receives from his clients often begins, "Please come to my wedding . . . ." --This text refers to the CD-ROM edition.

More About the Author

I am passionate about human potential.

I spent the first 25 years of my working life as a fashion photographer and as a father of five children. I met so many people with tremendous potential but without any people skills - they were like roses with rubber bands wrapped around them - and they'd never blossom until someone took off that rubber band. I made up my mind to be that person.

I took a risk and traded in my cameras for a laptop and started out going into schools teaching kids how to ace interviews and get jobs. From there it grew fast and within 6 months I was invited to be the kick-off speaker at the AT&T Canada annual convention at the Metro Convention centre in Toronto.

Today I speak all over the world and my books have been translated into more than 30 language. My hottest business speech is "Be Brave - Take Risks." And why not? Taking risks is the only way businesses can grow and innovate.

More than 500 corporations, thousands of small businesses, and six of the world's leading business schools have contacted me to rally and inspire their staff to take risks and connect.

This is a quick read (less than two hours) but it has enough tips in it, that once you've finished it, you'll want to go back and reread parts of it again.

Don't be turned off by the title - this is not a guide to mind manipulation nor will you learn how to hypnotize people. It's a combination between a beginners guide to NLP (neurolinguistic programming), where it breaks down techniques into easy, manageable exercises and a common sense guide to dating, reminding you that if you never leave your house, you'll never meet anyone new.

A word of warning though, simply reading this book is not enough to change your life. If you're not willing to try some of Boothman's suggested techniques, nothing will change.

Target Audience: You want to be dating more, but you need a more confident and approachable vibe. This will give confidence in the dating scene, and you'll quickly see the more you practice these tips, the more confident you'll become.

This book is intriguing! I picked it up and couldn't put it down. The information is excellent for the advice it gives in getting to know someone new, breaking the ice (my problem), and how to continue to keep them interested (another problem). I haven't dated in years and had forgotten most of the advice and tricks that is talked about here. The first night I had the book, I managed to read MOST of it. Like I said... couldn't put it down. AND THEN the very next morning, I was approached by 2 different women at 2 different locations, both are very beautiful, a bit younger than me, and interested in getting together again. Now that was the confidence builder I needed. Now only a week later, I have more young women flirting with me than ever before. The attitude change is apparent to me and I believe the key to my success so far. I'm not so much worried about the timing of 90 minutes as the stated in the title, but I do think that the information is useful for achieving the end result. All the building blocks to help overcome shyness and getting back out there are in this book. This was a great buy!

I was 39 years old when I read this book. I had never been married, and had been single for several years. By my 40th birthday I had met the man of my dreams and was sporting a beautiful 2 carat diamond engagement ring! I used the tools in this book to find my best friend, soul mate, partner. I have never been so happy and so in love. Thank-you Nick Boothman for your book which taught me that I was always choosing the wrong man and how to choose the right one!!!

I was inspired by the simplicity and practicality of Boothman's approach. This audio book is packed with tips on how to connect to people and is presented by the author in a snappy and entertaining way. When you've finished it, you'll want to go back and listen it again. It's insights help me to be more charming when interacting with other people instead of more alarming! :-)

I stumbled across this book in an airport store and spontaneously bought it anticipating I would share some of it's insights with a singles group I facilitate and utilize it in my singles coaching business. Although I'm not fond of the title, I love the book! I found useful insights and techniques that even I, an experienced dater, will be able to apply to my dating strategies. Two areas I found especially useful were the techniques focused around first dates and the four personality types and what each needs to feel loved. It certainly made me ponder my own dating strategies and whether I could be even more effective given these techniques.
Although I haven't yet personally used the strategies, I recommended the book to a friend who applied some of the techniques to a first date and reported a much more enjoyable experience than usual.
