4.0 out of 5 stars Autopilot Off makes a hell of a sound!!
1. Make A Sound 4/5 - title track, great intro to a great album
2. Clockwork 5/5 - awesome remix of an older less known song of theirs, also heard on NHL 2004
3. Blind Truth 4/5 - different sound than expected from AP, very anthemic, Rancid-like but better vocals
4. I Know You're Waiting 5/5 - starts of slow and builds into and rock your socks bridge you...

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent, at best
I have been a fan of Autopilot Off for awhile and have seen them in concert several times. I really like their older music. I found it fast and original and catchy. I think this new CD is definitely a new direction for them. The songs are much deeper sounding, but they are not as fast or as hard, and I feel just not quite as good as their other stuff. I would recommend...

4. I Know You're Waiting 5/5 - starts of slow and builds into and rock your socks bridge you won't forget
5. The 12th Day 5/5 - Flat out rawks for 4+!
6. Voice In The Dark 4/5 - interesting addition of piano in the backround makes this song unique to AP
7. What I Want 3/5 - not surprised, typical first release from a punk rock band to attract audiences, vocals still shine though
8. Blessed By A Nightmare 10/5 - my favourite by far, brings out the air guitarist in everyone out there, hold on you're in for a ride!!
9. Divine Intervention 2/5 - AP goes Early November, i didn't buy the emo resonance to this song, i think they stepped a little outside their realm, becomes boring quickly
10. Chromatic Fades 4/5 - classic AP
11. Byron Black 5/5 - second fav. song on the CD, can't wait to hear this one in concert, they better play it!!
12. The Cicada's Song 4/5 - good song, but leaves you with an unsatisfying ending to a great CD

All in all, a great step forward for a band that is just realizing their potential and have come a long way since they started! Great production, nice guitars and some of the best vocals you'll find in punk rock today!

That's me and i'm out...

5.0 out of 5 stars Will add 10-15 MPH to your driving habits, May 26, 2004

I had heard songs by these guys here and there for a while (first as "Cooter", then everywhere from the Atticus comps to Daredevil Sndtrk to SSX-3 snowboarding game for PS2), but was anxiously awaiting a full-length album.

Not ones to disappoint, this CD is getting constant play in my Jeep. It is the perfect melodic punk album, rauchous, raw energy with good vocals and pumped-up lyrics. This is everything you want in a summer/top-down driving CD. Very accessible.

I'm not sure if these guys will knock the kings-of-punk from their throne, but they have the skills to do so. Good luck.

4.0 out of 5 stars Catchy Stuff, May 22, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Make a Sound (Audio CD)
This album does not seem to distinguish itself from the many other bands, but I do like it. The catchy tunes keep me on an emotional roller-coaster but don't lead me to destroy everything in sight. The singer doesn't scream and that's the only draw-back. Island Def Jam is an incredible record label, with this band, Hoobastank, Thursday and one of the best bands : THRICE!! Don't forget about THRICE!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars APO Does It Again!, April 30, 2004
This review is from: Make a Sound (Audio CD)
I was absolutley stunned and obsessed with their last album. I actaully happened to see them at a local show and they were amazing! They were the only band that I loved and so I got the cd.
This new cd is so awesome! I'm listening to it now for the first time and love it! I love the lead singer- he is a good singer unlike other punk singers who just seem to scream bloody murder. BUY THIS CD! It's frig'n good!

4.0 out of 5 stars Cooter is no more., April 25, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Make a Sound (Audio CD)
I've been listening to and attending shows for Autopilot Off from when they still played as Cooter (around 1999-2000) to the present. Make a Sound represents the death of AO's signature style found in Looking Up and The NY&CA Split w/Slick Shoes. Their fast light sound has been replaced with something akin to Homegrown's Kings of Pop or Social Distortion's quasi-power ballads found on White Light, White Heat, White Trash. The sound is darker and heavier, and is beginning to sound like every other 'indie/alt' band out there struggling to get big. (Strangly enough, Island Records seems to do this to all the bands they sign, i.e. Thursday's War All the Time as compared to Waiting or Full Collapse) This CD is still worth while at the end of the day, however. It can easily be listened to from front to back, and the mixing on the CD is superior to earlier releases. The remake of Clockwork does not even begin to approach the original version on the Cooter/SS split, sadly enough. Overall, the older Fueled by Ramen material surpasses the Island material in originality and raw energy. Buy the CDEP Split, Looking Up, and then check out Make a Sound. If you can get a good price, Make a Sound deserves to be added to your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars apo makes a sound, April 22, 2004
This review is from: Make a Sound (Audio CD)
apo is one of my favorite bands and this cd was def worth the wait. i first heard about apo when they were gonna open for the movielife show that i was going to. i heard some good stuff about them so i picked up their ep and it was amazing! theyre even better live and are the nicest, coolest people. so here is their full length follow-up and it rocks just as hard. apo has high energy riffs and chris johnson's vocals make the songs catchy and addictive. my fave songs on the albulm are blessed by a nightmare and blind truth (which they co-wrote with tim from rancid!) def check this cd out if you want original "pop punk" that isnt watered down and stays true to the fans. one of the best bands on the scence right now....APO

5.0 out of 5 stars APO are about to make a BIG sound in your local CD store!, April 21, 2004

This CD is just amazing. Autopilot Off have come a long way since they started, and this CD is the perfect example of how far a band can come. Anyone who owns their self-titled ep, be prepared to be pleasantly surprised by all the new things they've tried (such as more intricate guitar/bass, and new drum styles) on this CD. I own 150+ cds, and this is definitely my favorite out of all of them. No exaggeration, I really do find this CD so surprising, and a big growth from their last release. I could go on and on but I'll just say: BUY IT, it is most definitely worth every penny.

When the guys released the EP it gave everybody just a taste of what we could expect with a full LP, but I never expected what I heard. The album was great!!! With such diverse songs and sounds ranging in all kinds of moods there isn't a boring moment. It's one of those cd's that can get put into the player and never taken out.

wow, i've heard autopilott off a few times on compilations and decided to pick up a copy, and what can i say, this is absolutely one of my favorite cds. Autopilot off truly contributes to the pop punk world. the profound lyrics of divine intervention are perfect, and the lead singers voice is in a class al its own. if you like name taken, midtown, or alkaline trio i highly recommend acquiring a copy of this cd.
