4.0 out of 5 stars Great Follow-Up, But Where Was Her Editor?????, August 19, 2007
This review is from: The Make Your Own Story Assortmen (Granville Sisters) (Paperback)
I'm NOT a nit-picky reader. I'm a horrible speller, and most times don't even notice grammatical errors, but this book was FILLED with errors. Pluralizations where there shouldn't be, words that should be pluralized but weren't, sentences that had words that shouldn't be there at all...it got to the point where it became VERY distracting, and is the reason I'm not giving it 5 stars.

That aside, the story was fantastic. It picked up right where 'The Granville Sisters' left off. I loved all the drama of the continuing saga of the Granville family. Rosie, the oldest of the five Granville daughters, really grated on my nerves this time around though. While Juliet, her beautiful, one-year younger sister, did some major growing up, Rosie just seemed to get more and more immature. When things are going well for Rosie, everyone's happy, but whenever she's unhappy, she always seems to blame Juliet, and sets out to make her miserable as well. A very unlikable character. And I found it pretty low of her to all but abandon her two small children just so she could go live in London and have a life, and hopefully find a man...ugh!

We do learn a bit more about the younger Granville girls in this book though, which I enjoyed. Louise, at age 15, has a tragic relationship with a war evacuee, and pays a very heavy price for her behavior. Amanda is turning into a serious socialist, and wants nothing to do with the upscale activities of her rich and privileged family, and young Charlotte is turning into an even greater beauty then her older sister Juliet.

In the end, I flew through this book. As soon as I finish with this review, I'll be picking up the third and final installment of this series, 'The Granville Legacy'. A great family saga, and look at life in war-time London. I definitely recommend this series, but I sure do hope she got a better editor for her final book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Story - Bad Editing..., November 6, 2008
By
This review is from: The Make Your Own Story Assortmen (Granville Sisters) (Paperback)
This is the second book in the series and I am flying through it but the editor of this book should be embarrassed. I have never noticed anything as bad as the editing in this book. When the main character Juliet is referred to as Julian... or where instead of there. How embarrassing... just goes to show spell check is not a reliable Editor! Despite being a very big distraction in the book the story is really good and I look forward to completing the series.
