This review is from: Make: Technology on Your Time Volume 12 (Paperback)
This is the twelfth magazine of this series, and it just keeps getting better. Magazine is a deceptive title, as this issue runs to 192 pages. More like a book!

There are projects galore within, such as how to make a 20 watt solar panel from smaller solar cells, how to replace batteries in a remote control with a magnet, and a coil of wire, a solar powered xylophone, and others.

There are also articles on what other people have made, without the in depth instructions, to inspire you, to show that there are still backyard tinkerers and inventors, that research doesn't need a huge rich multinational to make new and exciting stuff.

If you have ever wanted to take the back off of something, and use it to make something else, this is a great starting place. (Like the article on page 129 about adding a tv to an old boombox) :-)
