This review is from: Make: Technology on Your Time Volume 21 (Paperback)
I bought this booklet because I was interested in the desktop factory featured on the cover, and wanted to learn more about it. However, the 20 page 'special section' covering this topic is, in my opinion, little more than a series of puff pieces. I learnt nothing from them that I could not have learnt from searching the web.The remaining 156 pages of the booklet provides detailed instructions for 'do it yourself' projects such as a geared candeholder, an electronic reaction timer, a snow maker, gourd lanterns, and an automated fan speed controller. I'm not in a position to evaluate how easy or difficult these projects would be in practice, but the instructions appear to be clear and explicit. |
