A shame more people aren't aware of these guys, October 13, 2003

I just found this album in a bargin bin and being from Canada and being a big fan of Celtic music, I had heard of this band and figured that 'FOR THE PRICE', i'd see what it was like! I was plesently thrilled with what i heard! I only wish i had found this album years ago. The music is traditional, but with a real rock edge to it. The instruments that you would usually associate with an upbeat, happy, lighthearted kind of sound, seem to be used to drive the music into you, leaving an effect not usually left by other artist of this genra! If you like preformers such as the Corrs, Great Big Sea, the Town Pants and the Young Dubliners, who mix Pop/Rock with Celtic/Irish music this is must have!!! As well, Rawlins Cross play great instrumentaly (trad.) on the track, "The French Painter/Drive'er Down". This band from Nova Scotia Canada, the heart of Canadian Celtic Music, need to be heard!!! I only wish i had jumped on board sooner! Jason

Make this on time!, February 19, 2003
This review is from: Make It on Time (Audio CD)
Rawlins Cross goes under the listing of "bands that aren't as well-known as they deserve." This Celtic rock band is a little more traditional, more melody-oriented than the similar "Great Big Sea," and is a great collection of songs, that range from weird to raw. Among the songs are the whimsical, affectionate "Where Would I Be" love song and the similarly likeable "You Will Always Have My Love," fast-paced and danceable "Rockaway," the cute "Boogieland," somewhat meandering "Some People," the raw and determined "Near Dearly Departed," and the lower-key "Deep Blue." This is not an album for ballad fans, because even the slower songs have a pulsing feel to them, using traditional instruments for much stronger, more complicated tunes. The band is all male, and their voices have an appealingly raw quality; you can imagine these guys singing and dancing at a puib as you listen. A wonderful band for those who like their rock bands a little less polished and a little more original, and especially for fans of "Great Big Sea."

This is one of my all-time favourite albums. The band is incredible--an over-looked gem. They sing from the heart and the music is powerful and filled with spirit.
