4.0 out of 5 stars A Must For All Make-Up Students!
What a great book! I am a professional Make-Up artist who both lectures make-up at a modelling academy and a Make-Up & Hairdressing Academy and does freelance work. This book provides information for both levels of education. Chapters on Tools of Trade and how to look after them are a must. Once you read through this chapter, move on to learn about make-up...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good For Starters...
A fairly good book, though she seems to have you put on too much make-up. "Foundation is neccesary" etc...when I used her tips I looked good, but a bit made-up! It has great tips, though, and is definitely a good starting book! For a more every-day book, with good tips and stuff, I would get Kevyn Aucoin's "Making Faces."

Once you read through this chapter, move on to learn about make-up products and application techniques. There are sections about analyising the facial structure, undertones of skin, as well as making the most of these attributes. Learn how to create certain looks for different occasions. This book is wonderful for discovering the basics of make-up application and the basic concepts of colour in make-up application. I wish this book was around when I did my make-up course!

This book is really a must have for any and all people that wear or apply make-up. It shows you a wide array of techniques, color uses, and how NOT to waste your money on tools. If you want only one book about make-up, to learn everything, and not to spend too much, this is the book to get.

I am facinated with make up and how beautiful it looks on us. Its marvelous how a plain face can improve so much with make up. This book is a great beginer book and still is good with advance make up artist. It gives step by step instructions on how to apply make up. It covers Foundation, cheeks, lips, defining eye brows, shaping eyebrows, eyeshadow, eye liner...everything your face will need o look beautiful. I would definitely recommened this book to anybody who wants to look lovely.

5.0 out of 5 stars It all begins here, December 4, 2006
This review is from: The Make-Up Book: Every Woman's Guide to the Art of Applying Make-Up (Paperback)
I bought this book for my 12 year old Niece. I found myself going through it and learning alot of basics that at 35 I did not know. I do not wear make-up most of the time. But on those special days I will look great because of this book. Now that I am going to buy one for me. I feel this book is good for the beginners. It tells you about the basics for eyebrows, buying brushes, picking out if your a cool or warm color person, and more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Helps acheive a natural look, December 18, 2008

I missed the part in my teens and twenties when I was supposed to be learning to apply makeup. I arrived at thirty utterly clueless. This book explained exactly how to use each product. The author leads you through everything -- and most people will not choose to apply every conceivable makeup product every day -- but now I know exactly what to do in my quick "two minute" basic daily routine and my full blown "twenty minute" major event routine. She helps you acheive a very beautiful look that accentuates your own features, not your makeup.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adelle, July 26, 2011

I love this book. This is the kind of book that I had been trying to find for a couple of years in bookstores, on-line, library even. It's simple to follow, tons of pictures and is for the average everyday woman, not just for the wealthy or models with crazy make-up, etc. It's for the rest of us that simply want to look our best. This book covers everything; tools, products, techniques which includes shaping eyebrows... If you want an easy to read, easy to follow book this is the one. Thank you to Author Joy Terri! Thank you to Amazon for having available just what I wanted.

Loved the way they have things detailed inside. It's pretty easy for people to have an overview of make-up.

I purchased this product for my 17 year old daughter as a gift, although it did not have as much for 'eye design' it had a lot of excellent tips for all over face make up ideas.
