About the Author

Leslie Mancillas, M.A., teaches English for the Santa Rosa Junior College in Sonoma County, Ca. She also teaches for the Education Department of Sonoma State University. She has been married to fellow educator Nick Mancillas since 1988 and they began having kids in 1991. They are still in love. Peg Melnik, M.A., is the co-author of "The Napa & Sonoma Book," and she's currently a columnist with a New York Times-owned newspaper in Sonoma County. She's been happily married to fellow journalist Tim Fish since 1986. She's an unabashed romantic with two angelic, albeit spirited kids.

I wish my mother had told me how having children could devastate my relationship with my husband. All my female friends and my mom just said "Oh those first years are hard" - but no one told me what the "hard" meant. What is great about this book is it gave me an "ah ha" moment where I realized what my mother and friends didn't tell me. They didn't tell me that it isn't just hard dealing with a newborn, but it is hard on my relationship because my love life went away with my husband. My "ah ha" moment was that I had put my love relationship aside and focused all my attention on my baby. This book has some great practical and good advice that helped me bring more balance to my life and helped bring back more love and sex into my relationship with my husband. I needed the love and he needed the sex to feel closer. Everything got easier when we felt closer. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is THINKING about having kids because no one tells you what is really going to happen to your marriage and what you can do to plan for the chaos of raising children.

One of the best kept secrets is how children disrupt your relationship with your spouse. This little book gives you plenty of tips and "how to" advise to help bring the intimacy back into your life's. And a great perk...the photographs by Christophe Genty are incredibly gorgeous. WOW!
