I wish my mother had told me how having children could devastate my relationship with my husband. All my female friends and my mom just said "Oh those first years are hard" - but no one told me what the "hard" meant. What is great about this book is it gave me an "ah ha" moment where I realized what my mother and friends didn't tell me. They didn't tell me that it isn't just hard dealing with a newborn, but it is hard on my relationship because my love life went away with my husband. My "ah ha" moment was that I had put my love relationship aside and focused all my attention on my baby. This book has some great practical and good advice that helped me bring more balance to my life and helped bring back more love and sex into my relationship with my husband. I needed the love and he needed the sex to feel closer. Everything got easier when we felt closer. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is THINKING about having kids because no one tells you what is really going to happen to your marriage and what you can do to plan for the chaos of raising children.

This book was written as the REAL guide to love after kids. From the description of A to Z personalities (I'm a chaotic Z while my partner is a meticulous A), to remembering that love is a verb, to stolen kisses, to spontaneous flashing... This is a book to remind us to take back that love that we had with our partner before we had children and claim it once again as the rule. The biggest part for me was when the ladies reminded us that if we are putting our kids first and ignoring our parters, we are missing the point of our marriage. This book could save many relationships that are failing as the stress and joys from kids take the forefront. And I loved that it was an easy and humorous read as I constantly smiled and thought to myself, "Hey, I can relate to that!"
