They made their mark, but not with this one, August 20, 2008
Their debut Ep, "Dude Manor," was a refreshing revival of turn of the century pop-punk. It was original and creative but with gang vocals, blast beats, and all that we love about pop-punk. "Make your mark" is a solid album, but not as strong as their debut. Some of the songs maintain LWL's jumpy energy. "She's a Hack" is a great opener that gets you singing along in no time, and "Coolin' With Costa" is another great song about "driving out of this town." But many songs seem to suffer from weak writing. "Wrong Place, Right Time," "Cold Coffee," and "Hotel: Part 7," for example, have some great parts, but are also filled with generic, mainstream, space-filler riffs. LWL used this album as a chance to experiment with different styles like in "My Dilemma" and "Granny Steps," although not with entirely positive results. Despite these setbacks, the album is an enjoyable listen and fun to sing along with. But if given the choice, get Dude Manor over this. 3.5/5 Stars
