Make Your Own Application is a great, quick and easy and thought-provoking read. (Unless, of course, you spend a lot of time thinking through your own applications, in which case it's not as quick.) This book is comprised of short stories and vignettes that challenges your thinking and points your heart towards God's heart. The author, Michael Newnham, tells his personalized modern-day parables in a style that is easy to read and understand, yet rich in contemplation and depth. Not one to hide his rough edges, he makes himself vulnerable in sharing some stories and does not worry about trying to conform to the normal expectations of the Evangelical Christian sub-culture. This book can really bless the reader while at the same time challenging their thinking. Make Your Own Application is a great book for anyone who desires to grow closer to the heart of God, is willing to be challenged, and is okay with thinking outside of their own box.

i've looked through this book and it is a shame that there is no preview look inside to date - 2 pages, any 2 pages, and you'll want more - i'm gifting it to several people as well as myself - full of thought provoking moments of laughter and tears, too

I first heard about this book when I caught the radio program, The Writer's Network hosted by Phil Naessens. I enjoyed the interview that the author did so much about this book that I bought the book via kindle form and I don't regret it.

My youngest son is a skateboarder so I can relate very well to many of the thought provoking stories within this book. And sadly, the one story about the missing part is so true. I'll let the readers speculate on that and hope they will buy the author's book to find out.

Thank you for taking the time to write such an inspiring and personal book about your journey and insights.

...and drops you on your head when you are up.

Michael has done an excellent job of reviving spirits and pulling the rug from underneath you when you think have reach moral perfection. This is done not in what is said, but what isn't said. Each vignette gives comes from a solid biblical teaching, but pushes you to think and do something in your own life. Those think and do's aren't easy. They cut against the grain of culture, theologies and theories. Yet it's these moments in life that are precious and must be encouraged by such a book.

This book is a collection of vignettes and reflections on life. It is the kind of book you can pick up and open randomly to any page, read for five minutes, and come away refreshed, encouraged and challenged. Several of the stories are lessons the author learned from his cats. I'm sure cat lovers will appreciate those. I am not a cat lover, but after reading this book I totally understand why people love cats.
