My children love to draw the pictures for each month and enjoy using the calendar. They have just asked for these for the 3rd year in a row. With my kids, the calendars have been a big hit at ages 3-7 so far.

I bought this for ME, lol and I am 39 and holding....
I had one of these before and I enjoyed coloring it with my little one, placing pics of her in the center each month and letting it hang in her room. We had fun coloring it and I feel it is educational because she gets into marking off the different days, knowing what month it is, how many days until she gets to go go dance or Daises or grandparents. It's a calendar, people, it does what a calendar does.

an annual favorite with our kids,

Our kids (ages 5 and 8) are in love with this item. This is our 3rd or 4th year of buying the calendars. I pre-order them, and the kids anticipate the calendars' August arrival date the way they would anticipate Christmas or their birthdays. They spend a lot of time discussing what they will draw for each month, and they enjoy the coloring parts and putting on the special occasion stickers. It is a long-term project. They will spend weeks or even months on their calendars. This is a perfect gift for kids with a long attention span who like art projects. If you give this gift in December, though, it probably won't be finished by January 1, so give it earlier in the fall.

I got this as a christmas gift for my daughter, who had just a regular old desk calendar on her wall in 2010 & loved tending to it. I love that there are themed framed areas around the month with stuff for her to color, as well as the big blank area for her to draw her own creation. I am VERY pleased with the stickers. There are plenty and they are of a vast variety of events showing children & families of all colors and kinds, sure to suit any family. Examples: hair cut days, pets birthdays, lost a tooth days, visit mom/dad days, family vacation days, visits from family, trips to the zoo, chores, alllll kinds. Im very pleased.

I bought this for my children to make for their grandparents as a gift. The coloring is very detailed and takes a LONG time. I like that the center leaves space for additional artwork or to insert your own photos.

This book will make 2009 special for your kids,

For teachers, parents and day-care staff, there is a way to keep those children occupied! Make Your Own Calendar 2009 is an engaging and interesting craft book that will hold their interest. Filled with colorable pictures and empty areas that can be used to draw, this calendar will encourage their creativity. As an added bonus, about 200 stickers are packaged with the book.
The calendar can also be used for educational purposes. Teaching children the date/calendar system can be a daunting task. But with this handy tool, it will be much easier to explain and show them since they will have a keen interest in something they have worked on. Each page comes with month-appropriate pictures surrounding it, which in itself can be used as an educational tool to explain the major holidays and significance of each month. Children will also be exposed to the diversity present in different cultures as important festivals and holidays of many different cultures are noted. Not only is Make Your Own Calendar 2009 something that can be used to keep your children busy, but it can also be used to expand their knowledge. And the most important thing is that it can be a very fun activity! I am definitely looking forward to 2009 so that I can use my self-made calendar! Armchair Interviews says: This would be a perfect gift.

My 5-year old and I have been very happy with this calendar! It has about 200 stickers of holidays and special activity days you can put on with your child that we have had a lot of fun with (a lot more stickers than the Highlights calendar). It also has a blank month page every month for you to draw a picture, which is bordered by simple seasonal pictures and shapes to color in. Great fun!

I get these every year for my children. It's a permnent record of all the fun things they did all year. I love that they can do their own art each month! I'm going to keep them all for when they are older.

I color the pages myself. My kids are too old now. I have been buying these calendars for over 10 years. I love the stickers too. I buy a new set of colored pencils every year just for the cute pictures.

So much fun to decorate with crayons, markers and stickers! We decorate ours as the month approaches - gives us a regular "quality time" activity to do together. We add our monthly items at that time to the calendar too - which gives us the opportunity for everyone to see what's ahead.
