I'd consider myself to be your average kitchen klutz, especially when faced with a shift from cooking for my family of 4 (two of them under 5) to a family occasion or a backyard evening on the patio with my "foodie" friends. I love and crave the fresh, the daring, the healthy, variety and the fun that the best cooks incorporate in their meals.

This beautiful book has all that, and the options to simply change a few igredients here and there to suit your pallette or theme. I've found a new confidence in my abilities, grown vastly in my repertoire, and learned to live without the stress of preparing "new" things for special guests. Not only that, but I'm actually starting to LOVE doing it, and I do believe that creating anything with that feeling underlying your effort can only make it a success.

Get one as a gift for anyone special in YOUR life. Maybe they'll have you over? :)

this is a great book for people who want to use the recipes. It is not for someone who wants to leaf through a cookbook for fun. It is especially valuable for those looking for new ways to use saucesw etc.

Make It Your Own is without a doubt the most interesting and informative cookbook I have ever bought. The recipes are delicious and I loved all the suggestions on how to "make them your own". It's a must for anyone who loves to cook or experiment with recipes. Jean Pickering

My family is the guinea pig for all my cooking experiments....They have 2 recent comments I want to share: 1. You do not have to make this again mom (which has NEVER been said about a Make it Your Own recipe)
and...2. Is this a Jamie recipe? This is the best ______ I've ever had!

I was just at a class that Jamie taught and it was fabulous. She make flank steak & pork loin from the book. Was it fabulous!!! The different options for each recipe is also great in this cookbook. I highly recommend it!
