We've used these connectors for building large cardboard forts and castles. We've used them to make a piñata from recyclables. And now, we've used them to make a large, cardboard box robot for a birthday party. These are extremely versatile.

Basically zip ties with large, flat nail heads (and a separate, removable "washer" or "nut" instead of a zip tie's usual slide-through), these have flexible ends that can be a little pokey; which is why my dad, trying to be helpful, snipped all the ends off once my son's cardboard castle was assembled. This reduces their reusability (they're only good for connecting two sheets of standard corrugated cardboard now, unlike before, when multiple thicknesses or double-walled corrugated cardboard could be connected), but probably increased their safety factor for the toddler crowd. That's their major flaw, but since they're not recommended for that age-set anyway, it's a little like arguing that "The Walking Dead" isn't suitable for children. Which is to say, "duh".

Anyway, even the "house building kit" is very versatile; we actually bought it instead of the standard build kit this (third) time around because there are more connectors for less money for some reason. And I'm intent on leaving this set in unaltered condition; it's just easier, when assembling and disassembling, to have longer connectors.

First of all, my 5 year old son loved working with this kit. He especially loved the house themed stickers that came with it. The joiners are easy enough for him to manipulate and he added a latch and a doorbell to the house all by himself.

I do have a few critcisms. I think that the plastic joiners could be more durable. Some fell out when the house gets moved too much or bumped into. The hinges were a bit stiff so I just used good old duct tape to hinge the door. I also had a hard time using the plastic saw so I used a box cutter instead.

Another note, the kit recommends two large appliance boxes to make main part of the example house. So you will have to get creative if you don't have those.

I probably would have gone with a 3 star review, but it gets 4 since my kid likes it so much.

Stickers were really small and some didn't make any sense for house. The saw takes a lot of work and the projects online looked far better than the ones we were able to do. And it's hard to find boxes for the projects.

I had been looking around at the cardboard play houses for my 5 yr old and saw this one for half the price then at the store and I know I should have thought too good to be true but I didn't read the fine print. This isn't a play house it is nothing but a box of JUNK!! A box of flimsy plastic nails.
