This book of ten frames was perfect for my work as a tutor working with second graders. It was a perfect visual for the concept of base ten and for taking the number apart.

I have been trying to incorporate Ten-Frames into my math instruction for years. Unfortunately, it's hard to know how to do this effectively and what the sequence of learning is for this concept. "It Makes Sense" provided the structure and ideas I needed to use Ten-Frames correctly.

The games and lessons in the book helped me facilitate math discussions and greatly improved students' number sense. I found Conklin's suggestions on how to explain certain concepts tremendously helpful. The book is filled with games, routines, lessons, and assessments.

There's also a section filled with printable resources making it simple to be prepared for any activity in the book. Ten-Frame activities have become a favorite of my students.

This book gives teachers and tutors easy to create activities that build number sense for young children. As a tutor now, I use it to develop skills for struggling students who have difficulty with number sense that impedes their math progress.
