This book is a must have for your library. Thank you thank you Rae for doing a section on color theory!!! Yeah. Also big kudos for covering mature make up and a very detailed chapter on contouring. LOVE this book. I hate to say this but I wish it was longer. I hope she comes out with another book because I'd be buying it up real quick. Enjoy the video preview.

One of the best makeup books,

I own almost every makeup book created at the moment, and this is one of my favorites. Besides the photos being gorgeous, the tips and explanations are great and easy to replicate with some patience. I also like it gives step by step of the instructions for eyeshadow looks (almost 50+ pages of them)Update: So i've had this book for a year and i still love it, i was able to move on from eyeshadow looks to the contouring section which is very detailed and helpful. For those who really want to upgrade their makeup skills, this book is a wealth of information in a variety of areas that you can build on. To date its one of the best beauty makeup books out there.

This book is more inspiration than instruction. Yes, there are step by step instructions and sections on specialty issues, ie, oriental eyes, some makeovers of older women, but essentially the book assumes a certain level of proficiency. That being said, her contouring and highlighting photographs are well worth the price of the book. (Remember to blend.) There are some color charts and tips and at least this author isn't afraid to recommend false eyelashes. The photographs are largely editorial with an emphasis on eyes. Again like couture, it is not for everyday wear but provides a creative impulse to integrate. I liked that she included the older ladies (also lovely model specimens) with assist to their issues. (I also thought it was a major cautionary tale about sun damage.) I would have like to see greater diversity especially regarding age and profession (non-models please). Yes, those fifteen year olds have pefect skin and are totally unblemished by either time or experience. No challenge there. But find the beauty in the imperfection and make it work. Again a fun book to look at with some valuable tips and charts.

A really fantastic informative book. This book is for great for everyone from make up artists (like myself) to someone who has no idea how to put make up on but would like to learn and look amazing. This books has great step by step pictures of how to apply different make up styles for different ages groups and different occasions. Has a great section at the beginning that tells you what tools you really need in your make up case. If you were going to buy any make up book this one comes highly recommended.

this is a fantastic makeup book for anyone. it mainly focuses on modern wearable looks-but they are still interesting and unique. i wish there were a few more advanced eye techniques. also there are color charts on the best complementary eye shadow colors for your eye color. this was nice, as it included shades i normally wouldn't try-BUT it would have been nice if she did a look for each eye color using the recommended colors. if i were assign it a level-it would be intermediate. the contouring section is great and most of her advice is good. however, there's some repetition at times that seems unnecessary. the pictures are beautiful and inspiring. i have read a LOT of makeup books and this definitely one of the best. i'd rank it up there with kevyn aucoin's.

This book is fabulous. Morris is an extremely skilled make up artist and shares many ideas in a step by step easy to follow format. The book is focused on ideas and developing skill rather than pushing a product which is awesome. As a make up artist I love the beautiful looks and photography and the fact that Morris explains about different mediums etc rather than pushing a brand. Will recommend this to any one looking to develop their skills in beautiful make up application :)

This book combines the aesthetics of beauty and the different types of beauty with great photography and sensitivity to all people. This book could be very intimidating but because of the way it's written has the feel of a one on one makeup lesson that you feel good about afterwards. I strongly urge anyone interested in makeup to consider buying this book.

Awesome and a good read!! I love how Rae Morris gaves you step by step instructions on how to apply your makeup. She treats you to an eye color chart with eyeshadow colors that look best with your eye color. Also, there is a chapter for 40 and over which I found most helpful. I would recommend this book to beginner and advanced makeup junkies!!

I have alot of makeup manuals & books but Rae Morris' Ultimate guide is just that, Ultimate! I couldn't put it down from the day it came in the mail. It is SO helpful & you can find the answer to almost any question in this book. There are tons of guided pages of pictures showing how to accomplish certain looks, its just great. If you buy just one beauty book it has to be this one. I recommend it 100% to any makeup artist, or really anyone looking to expand their makeup techniques.

I borrowed this book from the public library to see what info it contained. When I took it home and read the first page, I was sold on it. I'm presently reading it page for page and I am going to purchase this book because it has a lot of very good information. I am a make up artist and though there are some tips in here I already know about, that just makes it so much better because I know the author is genuinely telling the truth and giving good tips. It is a great book to have as a refresher and really easy to read. The photos are striking. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to sharpen their skills.
