5.0 out of 5 stars Proof positive that older is better!
At 74 and still growing, B.B. King has produced yet another CD that proves that you don't have to be young to have what it takes. Like 1998's "Blues on the Bayou" this CD sticks to the basics - classic B.B. classic blues. On the classic Buddy Johnson song "Since I Fell For You", with its tasteful and sublime piano, King has reinvented the song and...

I love B.B. King's work. I listen to it almost every day. But I was disappointed in this album. Unlike "Blues on the Bayou" and some of his other recent albums, "Makin Love Is Good For You" is tired. The blues is not always high energy, adrenalin heavy. But this album's material is not first class and the performances reflects it. It sounds...

At 74 and still growing, B.B. King has produced yet another CD that proves that you don't have to be young to have what it takes. Like 1998's "Blues on the Bayou" this CD sticks to the basics - classic B.B. classic blues. On the classic Buddy Johnson song "Since I Fell For You", with its tasteful and sublime piano, King has reinvented the song and has made it his own. Another classic, Willie Dixon's "Don't go No Farther" is given similar treatment as well. The CD contains 6 new B.B. King songs that hold up well to past B.B. compositions prooving that King is a classic bluesman as well.

Makin' Love is Good For You - Yes Mr. B.B. it is and you can keep right on doin' it to us too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Another winner, May 7, 2000
This review is from: Makin Love Is Good for You (Audio CD)
If you loved "Blues on the Bayou" you'll love this: same band for the most part (B.B.'s touring band), same idea (stripped-down, "live" sounding disc produced by B.B. and featuring mostly new songs), generous track selection, energetic playing. B.B. may be past his prime in both playing and singing, but it hardly matters. This is a strong set with committed, passionate music. While a contemporary like John Lee Hooker is mostly coasting, playing the same songs over and over and relying on guests, B.B.'s approach is marvelously encouraging. "I Got to Leave This Woman" gets the disc off to a sensational start. "Don't Go No Farther" and a couple of B.B.'s own songs are nice. When he sings, on A.C. Reed's "I'm in the Wrong Business": "I'm in the wrong business, swear I ain't lyin', I stay hungry, broke all the time," you have trouble believing him. You're just fine, B.B.

The blues is not always high energy, adrenalin heavy. But this album's material is not first class and the performances reflects it. It sounds like it was done late in a long tour. I hope his new album, coming out next month, is better. He is still the King.

This is a better album than Blues On The Bayou, I also love that but Makin' Love Is Good For You truly is more inspired.

I first heard this album while in the "chair" at my dentist. I was able to listen to the entire CD..which was a delight...being at the dentist was another story. My number one priority was getting one for myself. Had a hard time deciding whether to go to a music store and buy one for immediate gratification or wait and order one from Amazon. Amazon won because it's so easy...Anyone who appreciates an incredible artist like B. B. King will be thrilled with this CD. Every song is a winner.

5.0 out of 5 stars B.B. King is Blues, February 6, 2007
This review is from: Makin Love Is Good for You (Audio CD)
B.B. King is Blues. I love this album. So much feeling; so much soul. Not sure if as good as Blues by the Bayou (arguably his best album). But this man Speaks. Anybody wanting to get into blues should listen to B.B. King, and this album is no exception! What would blues be like without B.B. King? This album makes me feel good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad..., October 16, 2001
This review is from: Makin Love Is Good for You (Audio CD)
Let me start this by saying I love B.B. King. I have about 8 of his recordings. Blues on the Bayue is better in my opinion though. Why? Better songs, less bad notes, better feel. I like these two that he did his self and they do have a good night club sound, I just thought he needed to spend a little more time on the recording as well as material. Some of the lines were cliche.

The soft melody and his strong personality are more than enough to welcome this new materwork. The sound is clear and effective. He is like good wine, he becomes better with years. My respects!

4.0 out of 5 stars DROP the song " I'm in the wrong business"......REALLY, September 22, 2008
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Makin Love Is Good for You (Audio CD)
This is a close to perfect CD. BUT ONE SONG ( I'm in the wrong business ), IS BB KINGS WORST SONG EVER. This album is so good without that song, so when the record company reprints this, JUST DROP THE SONG. Other bands have done it and it should be done here. IT hurts the album. The album is to good for this badly wrote, badly sung song. IT JUST DOESN'T FIT.Who want's to here a song about Mr. JACKSON and MR. T. Just plain stupid for a GREAT Blues ALbum. REALLY.....MCA..." DROP THE SONG " from the set-list on the next reprints. It is not BB. KINGS finest. BAD, really BAD.
