About the Author
PHILIP K. JASON is best known for his critical writings on Anaïs Nin, war literature, and contemporary poetry. His sixteen previous books include three collections of poetry—Thawing Out (1979), Near the Fire (1983), and The Separation (1995)—as well as the widely used Creative Writer’s Handbook (co-author Allan B. Lefcowitz) and Acts and Shadows: The Vietnam War in American Literary Culture. Jason has taught literature and creative writing at the United States Naval Academy since 1973, and, from 1979 to 1998, he served as an executive editor of Poet Lore. He and his wife Ruth live in Naples, Florida.
