About the Author

Lynn K. Mytelka is a professorial fellow at UNU-MERIT in Maastricht, where she is director of the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Project, and a distinguished research professor at Carleton University in Ottawa. She formerly served as director of UNU-INTECH. Grant Boyle conducted policy research on energy and the environment at UNU-IAS in Yokohama, before serving as associate project coordinator of the UNU HFC Project 2004–2006.

More About the Author

YARIME Masaru (鎗目雅) is Project Associate Professor of Science, Technology, and Innovation Governance (STIG) at the Graduate School of Public Policy (GraSPP) of the University of Tokyo. He also has an appointment as Honorary Reader of University College London (UCL) in the Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy (STEaPP). His research interests focus on corporate strategy, public policy, and institutional design for promoting science, technology, and innovation for sustainability. He has been contributing to international initiatives, including the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) Finance Initiative on Environmental Risk Integration in Sovereign Credit Analysis, Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Technical Working Group on GHG Risk Management, and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group III (Mitigation of Climate Change) Fifth Assessment Report. His visiting professorship includes Groupe de Recherche en Économie Théorique et Appliquée (GREThA) of the University of Bordeaux IV in France and the Department of Science and Technology Studies of the University of Malaya in Malaysia. Currently he is serving on the editorial board of the journals Sustainability Science, Environmental Innovation and Societal Transitions, and Journal of Corporate Citizenship. He received B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tokyo, M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology, and Ph.D. in Economics and Policy Studies of Technological Change from the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands. Previously he worked as Senior Research Fellow at the National Institute of Science and Technology Policy of Japan (NISTEP) of the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
