Although this tape offers a wonderful, humorous, and enlightening view of life and death, the title is misleading. I found myself wondering as I was listening--"when is she going to get to the part where she talks about the specifics, for example, like a meditation she does, or what it is that she has done to open herself up completely to her own psychic powers...?"

Don't get me wrong, this tape is excellent and it offers a beautifully witty way of looking at the absurdity of human existence, and still having a sense of humor. I love Sylvia Browne and hope she will write more, because this audiobook felt like an introduction, a sample, a precursor to something that she might publish in the near future. So if you are looking for a specific guide on how to make contact with your lost loved ones, this may not fill your need as expected, but it will leave you feeling good and with a smile amidst the sorrow of loss. I only gave it a 9 because the title seems to get ahead of what the subject matter is.

I have enjoyed other works by Sylvia Browne but this one just did not deliver what it promised. There is little useful information here on developing psychic abilities. For those who are interested I would recommended the books by Sonia Choquette or by Penny Pierce on psychic development or by Anthony Louis on expanding intuition through the Tarot. But I would not recommend this particular title by Sylvia Browne if you want to develop your psychic powers.

I love Sylvia Browne, and couldn't wait to listen to her two-tape set. Unfortunately, I could not have been more disappointed! The description says "Sylvia Browne shows you how to contact your spirit guides"...NOT TRUE; "how to get in touch with your spiritual self"...NOT TRUE; "how opening to your angels can help you heal psychic wounds and conquer your fears"...NOT TRUE; "how to facilitate contact with a loved one who has passed on"...NOT TRUE!!! These tapes don't really even touch on these subjects. This is an entertaining tape of Sylvia's quirky sense of humor, but it does not help you with anything!!! VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

I too found the title a bit misleading and wondered when Sylvia would begin to teach us how to "Make Contact With The Other Side". Instead I felt a joyous feeling inside, something I have needed since losing my Grandmother 4 years ago. This tape let me know that it really is ok to still be greiving, but it also helped me to start healing the hurt and emptyness in my heart. Since I am intuitive and have channeled for several spirits, I knew that my Grandmother has always been with me, but now I understand the "how" since Sylvia describes the spirit plane.

Thank you Sylvia Browne for sharing your inspirational insights into the spirit world and for nudging me from my deep grief and depression and toward the living world again. I look forward to listening to more tapes and reading your books to help me live again and learn how to develop and fine tune my own psychic and channeling gifts.

This book doesn't even come close to the subject of which she is supposed to be talking about. Don't waste your time or your money. She should have to refund everyone their money for this book. The one star rating should be "0".

I was very disappointed with this audio. I am not sure who the editor was on this audio, but they couldn't have been listening to these tapes. Sylvia doesn't talk about anything having to do with helping us enhance our psychic powers. These tapes are more for giving life tips and throwing in her own life experiences. I wouldn't recommend this audio. The title is very deceiving.

This tape has little, if anything, to do with heightening psychic awareness. It is 2/3 Sylvia-on-Sylvia and 1/3 "audience participation". The former comes across as stand-up comedy mixed in with common sense you could get from your grandmother.
The latter is the more interesting section. Pay attention when she makes assertions that the audience member contradicts ("No, my father was 6'6" and had black hair" to Sylvia's seeing a "little guy with blond hair" etc.) There are very few "direct hits" among her assertions. Sylvia first tries to backpeddle the assertion to the circumstances provided in response; if that fails, she changes the subject, rather than admitting she was wrong. For someone who charges $750/pop her record on specific predictions is mighty poor.

I very much like Sylvia's outlook and manner. She is earthy and pragmatic. But her tapes do not discuss "making contact with the other side." They are a taped lecture, and while I truly like her, there were no suggestions for "making contact" with the other side. While entertaining and worth listening to, don't bother if you wish to learn how to learn to utilize the psychic abiltiy she says is inherent in all of us.

On a trip to the bookstore recently, I arrived specifically for THIS book. As I flipped through the pages, I scoured up and down back and forth for the meat of the subject, that is, a little more information on the very title the book was BASED on and was way disappointed that there was little (if any) inf. on how to DO as the title suggested. Then I felt very relieved that I had the chance to find this out BEFORE I bought it.

Then, you know, I laughed at myself as I came to the realization: Silly girl!!! As powerful a psychic she may be, look around you....charging MEGA BUCKS for her shows (with which you MAY OR MAY NOT even get a chance to ask a single question) books coming out of her like an assembly line, consultations at rates several times greater than the average joe's enitre paycheck, it's clear to see she's totally milking the psychic thing for all it's worth....

So with that considered, WHAT incentive HAS she to come down from atop her mountain of cash and teach piddly old YOU any of HER secrets????

Sure it's been said (even from alleged psychics) that we all have these abilities to some degree, but for a psychic to send the elevator down FOR YOU would divert THIER cash flow.... w/the exception of course for those paid "how to tap your psychic powers" courses and even then (the above sylvia browne book is a prime example) they barely scratch the surface when it comes to the what's and how's. But, that's how these psychics WANT it to be. I feel deep down that many of us have the capacity to be a sylvia browne and I think she might too. And so are the very reasons she would NOT share the core thruths....Because then there would be sylvia brownes the world over...then the throngs of sylvia browne devotees and groupies would thin....so would her bank account...then possibly her BODY would follow (HA!!) Your sheer, soul-shaking DESPERATION to seek answers in your life and your ignorance as to even knowing where to begin to find it is what puts food on thier table....no scratch that...It's what puts a pool on thier estate (HA!!) If you knew the real secrets, you wouldn't NEED them (sylvia browne, gellar, silva, kingston, etc.), as you could get it all for yourself!!
It's jealously (or should I say GREEDILY) guarded and it'd be ridiculous to believe that she would reveal her actual techniques with all that's been said thus far.

This is a very enjoyable tape--I laughed out loud several times at her no-nonsense views on living life on this planet. Good to listen to on your way to work. However, I tend to agree with one of the other reviewers that the title of the audiotape did not fit the description of the content. I specifically bought the tape to learn more about developing psychic ability and I did not feel my expectation was met in that regard, nor did I feel Sylvia intended to meet that expectation.
