More About the Author

Carol Verburg has a passionate crush on Ashland, Oregon, mecca for West Coast theater fans, where her play "Spin, or Twilight of the Bohemians" was a winner at the 2011 Ashland New Plays Festival. As a playwright and director she spent the 1990s collaborating with the late artist Edward Gorey, who inspired "Spin," her mystery novel "Croaked," and her monograph "Edward Gorey Plays Cape Cod." Since moving to San Francisco, she's worked with the legendary Eureka Theatre and Fellowship Theater Guild ("Lady Day in Love") and currently leads the Mechanics' Institute Library's indie publishing workshop. Her literary collections "Ourselves Among Others," "Making Contact," and "The Environmental Predicament" have inspired thousands of college writing students. Her new novel "Silent Night Violent Night: a Cory Goodwin Mystery," set in the world of publishing and reuniting two Mount Holyoke College comrades-in-arts, has reopened some welcome connections with her own old friends.
