Artist and designer Stockstill divides her book into the four seasons, though any of the lawn ornaments and patio containers can be made anytime. She starts with general instructions on tracing and transferring a pattern, painting, woodworking, antiquing, gold leafing, and working with copper patina. The spring projects include a rose umbrella planter, yard birds, rabbits, geese, and angels, a planter box, and a bench; the summer projects, flamingos, a trellis, a fountain, a sunflower bird feeder, a garden hose box, and a window flower box; the autumn projects, a planter, a bucket, and a scarecrow; and the winter projects, several pots and planters, and a wooden Santa complete with a white beard, black mittens, and a red coat. For each project--46 in all--there is a list of the materials and tools needed, detailed instructions, and a color photograph of the finished piece.
