As a gourd artist, I wasn't able to find much information on creating figural pieces with gourds when I first began. Ginger and Jim have done an incredible job of compiling work from a variety of artists with different styles.

There is a great history on dolls in different cultures in the beginning of the book that I found fascinating. Different techniques for creating figures are shown in many styles as well as mediums. Probably the very best thing about this book is the abundance of pictures throughout. It will give you great inspiration to come up with your own creations!

This book is a beautiful publication. It has concise, simple instructions to projects plus many wonderful examples of artists' work with comments from the artists. It shows the many things one can do with gourds. It's a must-have for your gourd library.

Far exceeded my expectations! Full of ideas from the best in gourd art. Couldn't put it down after I rec'd it. This book will probably be the most treasured of all of my gourd art books.

A must for any gourd artist.

I am a doll maker who has not worked much with gourds, but I am inspired to do so now!

This is a really great book for inspiration in creating your own gourd dolls and spirit figures. Artists are creating the most incredible art works with gourds and it's wonderful to see the many ways they can be fashioned. There are a few tips for techniques, but I would have liked additional information for some of the other techniques to create these wonderful objects, such as other products used.

As usual, Ginger Summit and Jim Widess have outdone themselves!! This book is a great one for the beginning gourder or the experienced.

This is an exceptional book with perfect pictures of the projects within. I grow gourds every year to make hand painted birdhouses out of and when I saw this book (I checked it out from the library first) I thought to myself "Wow, you really need to get busy you've got alot of crafting to do with those gourds!" It is an awesome book and I am happy that I added it to my library of books. The price is good, too.

Gourds are easy to grow. In fact if you don't keep an eye on them they will take over more than the space you arranged for them in your yard and there are many volunteer gourds just waiting in every seed that is inside each and every gourd. If you like a certain gourd from your crop, dry those seeds and plant them the following year and you will have a whole vine of those gourds with that years crop and the seeds seem to last forever. My husband was cleaning the seeds out of one last year and he must have dropped a few on the ground because this year we had volunteer gourd vines all over by the trash can out back. They are definitely prolific.

Great book, full of wonderful and inspiring pictures... Could have included a little more "how to" instructions.

Anyone who enjoys crafts whether is be painting, wood burning, jewelry making, or sculpting will like this book. It's full of great ideas and fun projects; something for everyone.

This book is better than I expected. Lots and lots of photos and great ideas for both the beginner and the those with experience in gourd figures. Excellant - hightly recommended!
