5.0 out of 5 stars Making Part I-The Making of, "Don't Cry".
Making part I shows the making of Don't Cry. The video involved interviews with Axl and the gang. Call me clueless but I did not realize Don't Cry was about reincarnation until after I saw this video. I think GNR did an excellent job with this video, considering their budget and the fact that none of the band ever acted before! I also liked the interview with Shannon...

3.0 out of 5 stars dont cry
wow, i never realized dont cry was about past lives either until i just saw the video recently...i guess i was too young to get it when i saw it before...but all of axl's words are really profound. in civil war, they are totally profound especially. axl is a genious. slash is a musical genius that plays guitar how people play the violin. i could totally feel vibes...

I also liked the interview with Shannon Hoon, one of the backup vocalists on the song. The band did have some trouble finding a building to perfrom on top of for the video (liability issues). I liked when the video showed how Axl was spray painted green. There's humor from all members of GNR. It shows some of their human side. If you like to see how videos are made, then you will enjoy this. Of course, GNR fans will like it anyways!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Indepth And Well Done Documentary, May 20, 1999

Guns n Roses, the most controversal and one of the greatest rock bands in history. This video gives a very cool and intereting look into the making of one of the greatest videos ever made. The coolest part about this video is the interviews with Axl Rose who is simply brilliant at the least. Axl is very complicated and missunderstood at times, this video gives insight into who the real Axl Rose is, which is the same man you used to see on stage. Thats why guns was so great because they were real. Anyway Peace and I hope you enjoy thi video.

(sniff sniff), well never see it again...

He is open, truthful, down-to-earth and honest! He is a brilliant man with a huge sense of what it takes to make
a really awesome video, song and how to give the fans wanting more!

Maybe it is because they had the extra time to go into a bit more detail - this song is roughly six minutes, whereas the other two are nearing ten minutes, yet the length of the video is still one hour. So they have time for a few more interviews with the band.

I like the bit where Axl is in the room lying down, when his two alter-egos walk in and one of them walks out through the wall.
But I think it has to be said for all three of these "Making Videos" videos that they're mainly about how the video clip itself was made, and to a lesser extent how the song itself was created. Although all three of these videos include the actual video clips themselves at the beginning (before being dissected), - in this respect, the dissection is nowhere near as good as watching the clips on their own.

What am I tring to say, exactly? Just remember that the fun is in the product of GNR's hard work (namely, the short little six minute video); the fun isn't as easily found in watching how it was created (the hour video) because you get only a few extra little tidbits. And that being the case, if you just want to see a few video clips, then get the GNR video entitled "Welcome to the Videos" instead.
