4.0 out of 5 stars Making Your Own Jumps
It was a super book. For people who don't want to spend outreageos ammounts of money on jumps this is the book for you! With so many pictures and diagrams it was hard not to understand it. I reccomend it to people who ride English and have there own farm!

2.0 out of 5 stars Suitable more for kids than adults
It is not the book to purchase if you want to build stadium jumps (brush box, coops, panels) - there is some information on building cross country jumps, but there is a lack of detail and no step-by-step instructions.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware!!, June 27, 2005
This review is from: Making Your Own Jumps (Threshold Picture Guides) (Paperback)
This book is NOT for a person that want's to know how to build jumps by a step by step process. It has some information on how to build nice cross country fences. But, I was unable to use this book to build any arena fences. I would spend your money on something else!

This is not a "book", this is barely even a "pamphlet". Complete waste of money!

1.0 out of 5 stars A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY, July 30, 2005
By
This review is from: Making Your Own Jumps (Threshold Picture Guides) (Paperback)
I was shocked when this "book" arrived. 24 pages hardly constitues a "Book". It is a brief pamphlet that gives a 101 of (mostly cross country) jump design. No instructions on how to "make your own jumps" here. Don't waste your money on this one.

does not really tell how to make them-- only some pictures-- save the money and go to some horse trial facility websites for similar or better pictures.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and complete, August 10, 2004
This review is from: Making Your Own Jumps (Threshold Picture Guides) (Paperback)
This book looks geared to children, but I found it insightful and detail oriented. It has great suggestions for building jumps, and includes the "finishing touches" a person might not think of on their own. The book is also well illustrated, giving lots of examples of easy-to build obstacles. One of my favorite references.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value, May 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Making Your Own Jumps (Threshold Picture Guides) (Paperback)
Excellent value, recommend seller. Book is great but you would still need to be a bit of a handyman to be able to build them, as the instructions are quite brief, but it does give you a good guide on the different sorts of jumps and how to go about building them.

2.0 out of 5 stars title is misleading, April 28, 2008

The books in this series are usually quite good, however, this particular title is misleading. There is no actual construction of jumps, but a collection of types of jumps for a course. This book seems nearly a duplicate of designing a jump course. I was disappointed.

It shows several examples of different jumps but no detailed directions. It does provide some helpful tips for constucting cross country jumps but not much. Check out "Jumps, etc." by Lisa Campbell or "Building Show Jumps" by Andy Radford.
Good Luck...
