5.0 out of 5 stars Making love true again, March 19, 2002
By
This review is from: Making Love (Perfect Paperback)
I have been waiting all my life for this book!
This is nothing less than a life changing book. What Barry Long has to say about love is so important in these times, this is what everyone wants but no one knows how to make real.
My partner and I have put his teaching into practice and have found a totally different perception of love, and each other opening up to us. It's so beautiful! I am so grateful to Barry Long and amazed that more people aren't aware of this whole other spiritual dimension to making love. i would say that if you want this deeper, more real sort of love in your life you've really got to go for it and your partner too, otherwise it's just another book and you won't 'get' it. But even if you're single, you should read this book! If i had read this years ago i could have saved myself a lot of heartache. And if you are in partnership and you try this, it will make your love grow in a way you could not imagine.
I can't recommend this book enough!

5.0 out of 5 stars New doors opened to remembering what we are: love., July 23, 1999
This review is from: Making Love (Perfect Paperback)
The book shows very clear and to the point where we go wrong in love-making and what we can do to change it into a complete and fulfilling experience of love. I hope more men will be man enough to read it and come out honest to experience love together with their partner(s). Thanks for sharing Barry Long.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Book!, December 21, 2004
This review is from: Making Love (Perfect Paperback)
This book gave me integrity and new purpose in relating to women. I can't say enough-maybe the most life expanding book I've had the pleasure to read. First time I ever read a book straight through twice.

I feel rejunvinated in my ability to give love deeply and unselfishly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely essential reading for every man and woman, May 19, 1999

This review is from: Making Love (Perfect Paperback)
It will change your life. Very difficult to swallow as a man; it asks you as a man to accept full responsibility for woman. The shift from sex to real lovemaking is part of the real healing process for women and men.

5.0 out of 5 stars A unique and challenging perspective, May 17, 2009

In this book, Barry Long spells out his vision of human sexuality, its failings, and the ways in which we can restore it to its original divinity. While influenced by tantra, this book is completely different than many other 'manuals' for sacred sexuality. Long is clear, concise, and at times quite blunt as he lays out both the obstacles to sexual union and the methods to overcome them. He is never overly technical, which I greatly appreciated in reading this book. The material is presented in a grounded and matter-of-fact way, but also with respect and a deep spiritual understanding.

If you are looking for a book that focuses on 'techniques' (i.e. breathwork, positions, mantras, etc.) this is certainly not the book for you. Long in several places argues that the majority of tantric teachers espouse practices that do little more than excite the body--and his message is completely the opposite. It is not about exciting the body, but about bringing consciousness into it. It is about gently and gradually removing the emotionality and attachment out of the sexual act, so that the true consciousness behind the union can begin to emerge. While this is certainly no easy feat, in this book Barry Long delivers a clear and unique roadmap to opening the heart and bringing consciousness into sexuality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shock factor!, August 15, 2007

I don't think I've ever read something so raw. So undeniably true and to the point. I feel like more of a man of character and responsibility and compassion having just read this book.

No book has jarred me thus since I was 18 and read Zen Mind, Beginners Mind. I'm a 30 something divorced guy who became utterly confused and even contemptuous towards the opposite sex. Talk about lying in the bed you've made!

If you are a man or woman that can stand up to constructive criticism this book will make you laugh as you blush and fluster you as you recall your past foibles. But hark! The world is made anew through understanding :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good, August 5, 2007
This review is from: Making Love (Perfect Paperback)
Very insightful. Barry Long found his Enlightenment through intimate union. Everyone has their own perspective and there were some things I didn't necessarily understand "why" or agree with but it was very informative and talked very much about being present. Presence is a theme that all masters will tell you is the key to knowing yourself as God. Barry Longs "Making Love" just brings that presence into the bedroom which is something our culture desperately needs. I gave it 4 stars because our culture needs sexual healing and reading this book is a great tool for the facilitation of that process. I didn't give it 5 stars because of my questions of "why" but it has nothing to do with the quality of the book. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to deepen their connection with themselves, the Creator and their intimate partner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Making love - sexual love the devine way, December 21, 2008
This review is from: Making Love (Perfect Paperback)
This book is amazing. It's a completely new view on our sexual lives and habits. I recommend it to everybody who is not satisfied with their sex life. If it's not fulfilling you, if you feel there's not enough, if you have plenty but you're still craving for more - read this. Make sure you read this with open mind and finish reading it before you make an opinion.
It's a very easy read and you will be done in a couple of hours.
It works, it worked for my relationship and it's amazing.
Good luck!
