5.0 out of 5 stars Quick, quality advice, January 7, 2008
This review is from: Making Love Last a Lifetime Participant's Book: Biblical Perspectives on Love, Marriage and Sex (Paperback)
I have read a lot of marriage-related material lately, and I would recommend this book as the most succinct. It's a quick read and gives lots of good Biblical advice, plus cites several other books which would be of interest. If everyone read this book and took it to heart, there would be no divorces!!

Hamilton does a great job of combining a strong biblical basis, personal illustrations, research from his church and a synthesis of leading relationship experts.

Good book written simply and succinctly. An easy read. It's clear that Adam Hamilton has read and many of the best Christian marriage counselor's books. In "Making Love Last and Lifetime" he summarizes the best points of these authors. You could read this one book instead of many and if both partners were to follow his advise I believe your marriage could last a lifetime with love!

Adam Hamilton is an author who gets right to the point and brings his points to life. You can also listen to his sermons at cor.org, and learn more about him. You'll read him more and listen to him more as he leads you to praise and honor God with your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great perspective on marriage, January 27, 2011
By
I am a big fan of Adam Hamilton. My pastor quotes him often. When I saw that Hamilton had written a book about marriage, I had to read it! My husband and I have a 3 year old son, and needless to say, our marriage has changed quite a bit since he's been born. (Not for the better!) We found ourselves at a crossroad in our marriage a year ago, and decided to recommit ourselves to staying together. It hasn't been easy. While reading this book, I felt like Hamilton had written it specifically with me in mind. His honesty about his own marriage is touching! He presents a lot of ideas from experts and adds a twist of old-fashioned Methodism to it. My husband has totally caught on to the "love bank" theory! It's a theory that women's hearts are like a bank account. Good deeds and actions add deposits, and harmful actions are subtractions. The basic idea is that our mates need a positive balance in the bank to keep us (and them!) happy. I think this book is terriffic, but keep in mind that he is a Methodist pastor, so the book is religious in nature. I hope you find it as insightful as I did!
