5.0 out of 5 stars Revealing Secrets about Sex
This book is a must read for baby boomers, or for anyone who is romantically involved with one. Here's why. For those of us who came of age in the Sixties and Seventies, sex was always easy. We're the free love generation, the natural women, the swinging singles. We never expected later in life to lose our libidos. We never expected to routinely be too tired, or have a...

1.0 out of 5 stars Secrets of a hormone pusher!
I'll admit to barely skimming this book after discovering it was just another tout for estrogen, testosterone, and Viagra. There was not point in adding wasted time to my already wasted money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Revealing Secrets about Sex, February 17, 2001

This review is from: Making Love the Way We Used to . . . or Better (Hardcover)
This book is a must read for baby boomers, or for anyone who is romantically involved with one. Here's why. For those of us who came of age in the Sixties and Seventies, sex was always easy. We're the free love generation, the natural women, the swinging singles. We never expected later in life to lose our libidos. We never expected to routinely be too tired, or have a partner who's never in the mood. We never expected sex to be difficult.

Yet, sometimes it is. If this book is about revealing secrets, that's a big one. Middle-aged baby boomers may have sexual problems. We don't talk about that. That would be admitting we're aging. And that's not easy for us. After all, we're the first generation of adults who dress like kids. We do all we can to stay young. We fight the idea of getting old.

But we are. What a relief to read a book that address these secrets. What a relief to find out we're not alone. What a relief to discover there are easy, simple things we can do - for ourselves or those we love - to feel sexy again.

This book is the first step in revitalizing our lost sexuality. It's an easy read. It begins with quizzes, for women and men, which target relevant chapters. Each chapter contains a discussion of a particular issue, personal examples, and solutions that range from steps to change an attitude, to a discussion of hormone replacement therapy. This book tells us how to put the sparkle back in our sex life.

This book reveals the real secret. You don't have to be twenty to be hot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, March 31, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Making Love the Way We Used to . . . or Better (Hardcover)
This fun-to-read book is enlightening to say the least! The secrets in the bedroom that are on the minds of so many women and men are exposed along with solutions. Rather than treat sexual boredom or dissatisfaction as either just a medical problem or a relationship problem, Dr. Altman does a remarkable job of doing both.

5.0 out of 5 stars making love the way we used to ...or better, April 1, 2001
This review is from: Making Love the Way We Used to . . . or Better (Hardcover)
This Book is tremendous! It helped me realize that midlife sexual issues are very common. What is even better is that it addresses these specific issues and gives you advice on how to handle them. For years people just accepted these conditions and never educated themselves on how to have a better quality of life. Well I do believe this book is one that every couple should own. I give it *****!

I'm a woman, a doctor, sexually active, in a relationship and middle aged. And it seems like all my friends and patients are at least one of the above too. This book speaks to all of us. Points out the complexities, the joys, frustrations and multiple approaches to dealing with health and sex issues during this period. The best part is the constant, important encouragement to talk, talk, talk. I recommend this book to friends and patients alike. Excellent book.

5.0 out of 5 stars insightful, experinced MD, has history of data, May 7, 2001

Dr Altman lends the reader the insights that only a DR could give. His information is derived from his years of real experinces that he has had in his practice. The book is written in easy to understand terms and addresses issues such as body image and physical and psycholigical issues as well. He truly has a compassionate understading of what a women would be experincing in her life. He is the first MD that has publicly written about perimenopause, he treats the subject with lots of sensitivity. He does not leave the man's issues out the book, and he weaves a very positive theme throughout the book. He is a most positive champion. My wife and two daughters have been patients of his for the past 20 years. He is also an incredible sensitive person.
