Product Description

Witness for yourself the rigorous training of Marine Corps Boot Camp. See why it's considered by many to be the toughest military training in the world. This unique 50 minute video takes you as close to the training as you can get without actually being there. From the recruiting process to the unveiling of the Corps' newest Marines on graduation day, you'll be amazed by the spirit and dedication of the young men and women who take up the challenge of recruit training. Shot on location at the recruit training depots at Parris Island, SC and San Diego, CA, this in-depth look at the making of a Marine has been acclaimed as an important work and a must see for anyone who thinks they have what it takes to become one of "The Few, The Proud." Molded in a furnace of shared hardship and tough training, you'll sense the pride, passion, and esprit de corps felt by those who earn the title...Marine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Both Entertaining and Informative.Very well done, November 14, 1999

I have long been an admirer of the Marines and this video provides a unique look into their training and to some degree their culture. Well worth the money. A video collection about the Marine Corps is not complete without it.

3.0 out of 5 stars I'll Give it 3 Stars......, December 5, 2006
This review is from: The Making of a Marine [VHS] (VHS Tape)
While this documentary about Marine Corps boot camp is pretty good, I have seen better.
If you want to see EXACTLY how a Marine Corps D.I. is get the R rated documentary "Ears Open,Eyeballs Click"
It's a bit more intense than is shown in "The Making of a Marine" which is kind of tamed down for the masses.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, April 5, 2005
This review is from: The Making of a Marine (DVD)
I recently viewed this program while my son was in boot camp at Parris Island. I found it to be very informative and extremely well done. I don't usually write reviews but I just saw a review where someone called this a "ripoff". I find it hard to believe that a person who claims to be a future Marine could be so critical of this program. I know the folks who produced this film and they are Marine through and through. This movie is actually a remake of their earlier 1995 program by the same name. That is to say, it was done long before Discovery did their program. In closing I would just like to say that this program is highly recommended for any parent who has a child thinking of entering the Marine Corps. It is splendid.
