5.0 out of 5 stars Artistry in Practice, May 27, 2000
This review is from: The Making of a Mediator: Developing Artistry in Practice (Hardcover)
The Making of a Mediator is not just for the mediation professional. It offers insights for everyone who has conflicts and conversations that require negotiations. The authors, Lang and Taylor, posit "artistry" as a way to transcend boundaries and find creative solutions for resolving difficulties. They skillfully chart the course from novice to artist with exemplary practice mediation sessions. I found particularly apt their metaphor of a journey that involves the on-going process of reflection, learning, understanding, and exploration.

3.0 out of 5 stars Constellation?, May 17, 2007
This review is from: The Making of a Mediator: Developing Artistry in Practice (Hardcover)
I believe this book to be one of the best books I have read on Mediation. Especially since it gives new mediators hope for becoming an excellent mediator. The only distraction is that of the authors coming up with the notion of using the term, constellation, instead of galaxy or some other term that makes sense in the context which it is used... A constellation does not have a central star around which other stars or bodies revolve.
A galaxy does have a central point around which an infinite number of stars revolve... I believe an author or co-author must carefully avoid any terms which could easily distract the reader.
