Book Description

September 1, 2005
Jesus ministered to many but focused on a few. What makes this strategy so compelling? Because he understood the secret of living forward—spiritual multiplication through intentionally influencing a few people at a time. He knew that by concentrating on a few faithful men and women they would leave behind them a legacy of people whose influence would extend beyond a generation or two; in fact, a legacy that would continue to multiply until he returned.

This book is written to stimulate you, whatever your age, gender or position in life, toward a passionate desire to change people who will then change other people who will change other people. The key is not so much how you pour your life into people but that you are a person worth following. God placed you here to invest your life in others. This book will show you how to live and speak truth into the lives of others in a way that will transform them forever.

Some of the essential leadership characteristics discussed in this book:
-Self-discipline
-Encouragement
-Gentleness
-Confrontation

Editorial Reviews

Review

"To read The Making of Mentor is like eavesdropping on a quiet conversation between old and seasoned friends. Together, Ted Engstrom and Ron Jenson focus on mentoring, a vital form of leadership. Rather than presenting a 'how to' book of simplistic formulas, they invite reflection on such biblical character traits as encouragement, gentleness, godliness, honesty, and servanthood. This wise book will inspire you to deepen your relationships biblically and mentor others for the glory of God."

Review

"A true servant of Christ mentors select people around them. We urgently need a movement of servants who develop leaders the Jesus way—through intentional mentoring. Ron Jenson and Ted Engstrom bring us face to face with the vision, character and heart to make this a reality in our lives and ministries."
-- Dr. Stacy T. Rinehart, International Director, MentorLink International

not a happy, feel warm and fuzzy book. Yet it tells you the truth. It is a good book to read for anyone going into Christian ministry. The truth is tough and people have been hurt. you will pry shed some tears. Yet you will know how to better treat your family when things get tough.
