5.0 out of 5 stars Great book but...author Taylor is a thief, March 5, 2011
This review is from: Making a Monster: The Creation of Screen Characters by the Great Makeup Artists [Over 400 illustrations] (Hardcover)
I spoke to some of the makeup artists including Bau who said Al Taylor walked off with stills etc that belonged to his father to use for the book and wouldn't return them. If anyone wants to see a copy of the letter of accusation, I still have it. To this day Bau is still waiting to get his fathers personal belongings back from Taylor

Film buffs and students of stage make-up will enjoy this overview of how the wonderful make-up effects in classic horror movies were achieved. There are plenty of snippets of information about what was tried and worked, and what did not, under the lights of a sound stage. Concerns about the effects of some of the products used on actors' faces are very much included.
