Great overview of a complex product,

This review is from: Making a Movie in Premiere Elements: Visual QuickProject Guide (Paperback)
This book is required reading for someone taking on Premiere Elements for the first time. The program is a slightly dumbed-down version of their professional video editor, so there are tons of features and it can be quite overwhelming for the software novice. Adobe's manual and help files are severely lacking, to say the least. That's where this book comes in handy -- all of the main features are covered in clear, understandible text augmented by photos in the Visual Quickproject format. It is an easy read to go all the way through beforehand, and it's a good reference for solving particular problems once you are deep into the program.
I also read the PE for Dummies book, but I found Jan Ozer's guide provided a better overall picture of the features and functions, as well as a good understanding of how and why certain features should be used. And the photos which show you exactly what to do are a huge help in navigating a complicated user interface. A critical companion to an incredibly functional but intimidating piece of software.

Read This Book First,
This review is from: Making a Movie in Premiere Elements: Visual QuickProject Guide (Paperback)
This is the first book you should read to become proficient with Premiere Elements. It covers all the features of the program that you need to get started. The topics are presented in a clear and precise way which enable you to effectively accomplish your video production project. It is so well written, you will be able to read the entire book quickly providing you with an excellent overview of the Premiere Elements program. Once you have a good overview, the manual and help tools may actually be beneficial for details. Given the inexpensive price, it is a great value.

Visual QuickProject Guide,

Disappointed to find this was for the earlier version of Premiere Elements and it did not contain the new important features. The classroom training book by Adobe is far better.

Wanting to transfer my camcoder footage and Video tape footage of my family holidays to DVD I came across the Making a Movie in Premiere Elements a Visual QuickProject Guide book, the reviews looked very good,so I took a chance and bought it.I have not been dissapointed,in fact I was well impressed. Its explained to you simply and in pictures that make you understand what its all about. It gave me,a 49 year old newcomer to camcorder/video editing, the confidence to go ahead and use Premier Elements (also works for Premier Elements 2.)I have found this to be money wery well spent.I sincerely recommend this.

Good add-on book,

This book provides color visuals and is a good add-on to "Adobe Premiere Elements for Dummies". I will not recommend it an independent guide to Premier elements as it is a little sparse on details.

This is probably the easiest way to learn to use Adobe Premier Elements. If you have never used this product, read this first and you will soon be making outstanding movies. If you have used this product, read this anyway, as it will make using Premier Elements easier.

This book guides you thru how to make a home movie that is adequate for most people. I found it very helpful, but wish that it went a little deeper.

This book is an excellent beginners book. The instructions are easy to follow. The images are actual screen shots. It is clearly not the intention of this book to teach you all there is to know about Premiere Elements, but it is a good starting point.

Disappointing, Only Covers the Very Basics,

This review is from: Making a Movie in Premiere Elements: Visual QuickProject Guide (Paperback)
This book has several issues. The first is that it is not written for any specific version of Adobe Premiere Elements. You will note a clear avoidance of tying this book to any software release. Therefore the book deviates from reality with Adobe 3.0 in several areas. This alone would be a reason to avoid this book.
My second issue is that this book only covers the most basic of steps, which are repeated in tutorials that you get when you purchase Adobe 3.0. Therefore, I can so no reason to purchase this obsolete book. |
