Bought this book used from Amazon and I can say it's a great music book. Very rich content, great interviews and an inside scoop on the music business of the '80s. I rate it 4 because half of it is about outdated rec and production techniques, but still gives you the picture about how music was being made back then. It is a good reference book as well! I keep it in the shelf among my recording and mastering books, right beside my Grove music dictionary!

I purchased this book for my partner who is a musician and building his own recording studio. He loved the book as it has short, relevant chapters that you can dip into gain some good insight and information from. Some parts are dated re: electronic music but on the whole the book was a great find.
