Having failed her last performance review with Zeus, Zoe is sent to Earth, along with two of her sisters, with the imperative to inspire mortals to beautify their lives, or else.

She has spent the last year working hard, and has no doubt her accomplishments will earn a better review this time around. As the time draws near for her to return to Mount Olympus, she accepts one last job, decorating the stark home of computer expert Theo Maragos in order to prepare it for a major photo shoot. Not only that, but she must give the fashion-clueless CEO a complete make-over before that same shoot.

But as she spends time with the ever-cuter Theo, she finds that she is in danger of breaking Zeus's cardinal rule - not falling in love with a mortal. Still, she finds she cannot regret her feelings for Theo, and determines to find a way for them to be together forever.

MAKING OVER MR. RIGHT is the second story I have read so far from author Judi McCoy, and I have thoroughly enjoyed them both! Based on how much I liked the previous book, ONE NIGHT WITH A GODDESS, I have purchased a number of her other books. They are just that good. Now to just find time to read them all... LOL You can imagine my delight, then, when I received MAKING OVER MR. RIGHT for review, affording me the perfect excuse to move it directly to the top of my to-be-read pile!

Ms. McCoy did not let me down with this book. It was just as fun, sexy and full of heart as its predecessor. While it echoed the mood of ONE NIGHT WITH A GODDESS, it is certainly its own story, complete with some delightful twists that I managed to figure out before the story's end. Figuring them out didn't make them any less effective, and I was overjoyed with these surprises when they finally came to light in the end and watched our beloved characters, Theo and Zoe, as everything was revealed to them.

Theo begins the story as a big nerd, and while he is still a nerd at the end of the book, he is a much hotter one. It isn't just his improved grooming and his good looks that make him attractive, however. No, it is the love he feels for Zoe, the way he treats her, the reverence and patience he has for his aging father - I could go on and on. Suffice it to say that this man has all the requirements for a true hero, albeit the gentler kind.

For a wonderful romance with a whimsy that belies its depth at first glance, be sure to pick up a copy of MAKING OVER MR. RIGHT ASAP! Don't worry if you haven't read the connected books to this one, as Judi McCoy thoughtfully writes them so that they work extremely well as standalone stories that can be read either independent of the others, or in any order you prefer.

5.0 out of 5 stars lighthearted whimsical romantic fantasy, February 26, 2008
This review is from: Making Over Mr. Right (Goddess, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
In New York successful businessman Theo Maragos is tall, dark, and a geek who needs to change his image before he appears in a national magazine. Zeus' daughter Zoe, the Muse of Beauty, is assigned the ask of making him over; Zoe knows what failure means as her dad will not tolerate such a fiasco on her part or for that matter her two sisters, Kyra (see ALMOST A GODDESS) and Chloe (ONE NIGHT WITH A GODDESS) who have their own Herculean tasks to contend with.

Her plan is to start with the removal of the brainy wire glasses so that his blue eyes shine bright even if he cannot see. Then there is the need to remove the hair from the face so his dimples can shine bright. Then there are his clothes though Zoe is not sure she wants to put garb on that hunk of a body. As Zoe and Theo fall in love, she worries how her father will react to her wanting more than a simple tryst with a mortal. Still she hides her feelings out of fear that her dad might take out his renowned anger on her beloved. Theo assumes Zoe has her reasons for not telling him how she feels about him, but he wants her and plans to make her his one geek move at a time.

MAKING OVER MR. RIGHT is a fabulous ending to the Zeus offspring romantic trilogy. As with her siblings' tales, Zoe knows the rules of engagement include no falling in love with a mortal and the price of failure so she muses over what to do about her heart vs. her father's wrath. Fans will enjoy this lighthearted whimsical romantic fantasy as the Muse of Beauty and a computer geek fall in love to the consternation of Theo's potential father-in-law.

4.0 out of 5 stars Making Over Mr. Right, June 23, 2010
This review is from: Making Over Mr. Right (Goddess, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
Zeus gives three of his daughters, muses Zoe, Chloe, and Kyra a challenge to perform on earth in their fields without falling in love with a mortal man. Their reward will be eternal bliss on Mount Olympus.

Will they pull it off? Zoe wakens in the Trump Tower hotel in New York City and sets about doing her best. Her year passes and a couple of weeks before she's to leave, she gets a new job, one she takes to impress her father.

Talented author Judi McCoy has written a steam heated tale that will bring you to a slow simmer as you read, titillating and exciting your senses. You'll want to be in Zoe's stylish shoes as she must face the hardest challenge of her life.

Theo Maragos too faces a challenge. Can he change himself in time for the interview that will push his business into national prominence? Can a man who wears a bushy beard and lives in an apartment that looks like a warehouse turn himself into a stylish businessman?

Recommended as a read to please any romantic who enjoys that slow building sizzle between a man and a woman. Join Zoe to see what she chooses--love or eternal bliss. Or are they the same thing?

Enjoy. I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dazzling romantic tale of Mortals, Muses and Mythology, October 26, 2009

This review is from: Making Over Mr. Right (Goddess, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
This super talented authoress has created another dazzling romantic tale, with an unusual recipe. She focuses on a perfect mixture of Mortals, Muses, Gods and Goddesses, intertwined with Greek mythology, Mt.Olympus, and top God, Zeus. The plot is compelling, from enchanting beginning to surprise epilogue. The sizzling interaction between main characters Zoe (talented decorator) and Theo (tech expert) is absolutely magical! Will there be a Goddess, Book 4 in the future? Only Judi McCoy knows for sure. I, for one, would love a sequel that includes more interaction between Zoe, and her sisters, Kyra and Chloe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Making Over Mr. Right, December 17, 2008
This review is from: Making Over Mr. Right (Goddess, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
Zoë, the muse of beauty, has been sent to Earth by her father, Zeus, for one year as punishment for failing a performance review. She has to inspire the people of Earth to be stylish. The one thing she can't do is fall in love with a mortal man. When she meets Theo Maragos she thinks of him as just another way to make her goal for her father, until she gets to know him.

Computer geek Theo is about to be featured in a major New York magazine as one of the top and upcoming IT guys. Unfortunately, his loft features nothing more than college-style furniture, and Theo himself looks like a mountain man. When he sees Zoë, he knows she's just the person to help with his transformation. Falling in love with her is just an added bonus.

But Zoë is only on Earth for one year, and her time is almost up. Will Theo figure out the woman he loves is a muse, and can he come up with a plan to keep her on Earth, and in his arms?

Making Over Mr. Right is a charming, sweet story. Zoë is a no-nonsense muse who wants to get the job done, and get it done right. I loved the way she tackled Theo's transformation, both in himself and his personal space. I liked Theo even before he was cleaned up. He's a nice guy, who proves that computer geeks can be fantastic lovers.

What made this book so much fun for me was the ending. It had me laughing and cheering for Theo to win the woman he loves, and right an old wrong.

Making Over Mr. Right is the third, and last, book in Ms. McCoy's goddess series. If you enjoy your romance with a little bit of mythology, then this series is for you. It is a fun, sexy and a tantalizing read.

As her time among the mortals draws to a close, she has one final job, a photo shoot for business tycoon Theo Maragos, a handsome, rich geek. In the process, she finds herself following in dear old dad's footsteps and falling for a mortal, but she'll have to leave soon, and Theo is not thrilled with her secretive nature. Plus, Zeus will surely not be delighted to lose another child to a mere mortal, successful or not.

*** Reading Ms. McCoy is like indulging in candy, without the calories. Light, fun humor keeps the pages flying. I love the idea of ancient beings being forced to deal with high tech gear and seeing how they do it. Hopefully, a few more Olympians will bomb out when they go before the judge, so we readers will win. ***

4.0 out of 5 stars An super nice romance, April 22, 2008
By
This review is from: Making Over Mr. Right (Goddess, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
Making Over Mr. Right is a fun Greek mythology fantasy type story about finding true love despite all obstacles. Zoe Degodessa is the Muse of Beauty and daughter to the powerful Zeus. Zeus is a demanding father and Zoe knows better than to ever disobey him. He is sending his three daughters to earth on a mission. Each one of them is to inspire mortals with their special traits.

Kyra will inspire people to believe in good fortune, Chloe will bring happiness to mortals and Zoe will enhance their lives through appearance or design. If they successfully complete their missions, they can freely live on Mt. Olympus without any more tests or missions to complete. But if they fail, the sisters will be banished to live on earth until their dying day. There is one rule for the sisters to obey- and that is not to fall in love with a mortal. It is strictly forbidden, and they must abide by this rule.

While designing storefront windows in Manhattan, Zoe meets a very successful businessman named Theo Maragos. Theo is going to be featured in a prestigious magazine and desperately needs a home makeover. After viewing Zoe's design work, he hires her to help him make over his apartment and his geeky looks. Will Zoe be able to turn Theo from geek to hottie and not fall for him in the process?

As time passes, Theo and Zoe become close friends. How will Zoe return to Mount Olympus and forever leave Theo? Zoe guards her secrets about who she really is and hopes not to break Theo's heart in the process. Will Zoe's real identity be discovered or will Zoe be able to successfully completely her mission without any problems?

Making Over Mr. Right is an enjoyable book from start to finish. The characters are engaging and the storyline is original and entertaining. The Greek mythology added an interesting element to the romantic storyline.

This was my first book by Judi McCoy and I look forward to reading her previous books.

Armchair Interviews says: Unique romance that is a nice read.

4.0 out of 5 stars nice and sweet, March 11, 2008
This review is from: Making Over Mr. Right (Goddess, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is my second book by Judi McCoy and after the first one I thought I wouldn't buy another of her books, but the back of this one sounded so good I took a chance. It was much better than the first book I read but it had the same problem....the hero is way too nice. I wonder if all her heroes are nice guys. He's nice, she's nice, they like each other, they get it on...no conflict. The only conflict is the otherwordly circumstances they find themselves in. This was a good book, but it could have been great with more of an edgy hero. I think I liked the hero better before his makeover, at least that made it interesting. The other thing that her first book and this one have in common....poor epilogues.
I'm debating whether to read the other 2 books in this trilogy. All in all I would recommend this book since it makes you feel good and is a fast read.
