5.0 out of 5 stars Its About Time!
I received this book through a friend. The Making of a Police State really opened my eyes as to how we are being conditioned to accept abhorrent behavior of our politicians, media personailities and celebreties. I never paid attention to the deception, lies and manipulation brought forth in this book. although some would consider much of it controversial, many facts...

1.0 out of 5 stars Police State
This book is right wing propaganda. It's fascists like Laurence who advocate their own police state and systematically dismantle our constitution.

5.0 out of 5 stars thank you, February 1, 2006

Its been a long time since someone has so accurately revealed to the public the misconduct of the government of this country. I recieved this book as a gift and was unsure of what I would think but after reading it I am sure that anyone who reads this book will have their eyes opened to the truth and enjoy every second of it. I must recommend this book to anyone who wants to know what the politicians are really up to, you won't be able to put it down!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Homerun, March 20, 2006
This review is from: The Making of a Police State: The Socialist Agenda for America (Paperback)
The Making of a Police State took me completely by surprise. I was expecting some libertarian propaganda but found facts presented were well researched and informational. Lawrence provides a sound argument of how we have become so desensitized we are willing to accept almost any infringement on our liberties. His research interwoven with personal stories really highlight how elitists expect everyone to live as they dictate but they themselves feel they don't have to follow the same rules. He makes it clear how our children are being targeted and indoctrinated into the socialist mindset and proves we are only a generation away from evolving into a completely socialist state with the United Nations at the helm. This is a must read for anyone who loves our freedoms and liberties and are interested in learning how we should make a stand to combat the far left socialists.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, February 8, 2006
This review is from: The Making of a Police State: The Socialist Agenda for America (Paperback)
I was expecting something totally different in this book. The personal stories really helped define the "elitist" mentality. I was expecting another book attacking America but was delighted to find a different take. I believe the author hits the nail on the head by warning us of local government rather than federal in their attempt to restrict our rights. I've heard a lot about desensitizing but never really understood it until I read the explanation in this book which is laid out in a very down to earth manner. Anyone who wishes insight into how we are being stripped of our rights should read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Name Calling, August 1, 2006
This review is from: The Making of a Police State: The Socialist Agenda for America (Paperback)
Heard Mr Lawrence on the Thom Hartmann Show, bought the book and read it. I found it to be extremely well supported in his documentation of facts. I believe that is why these liberals (such as albabe) resort to name calling as they can't present evidence to refute fact. This book is full of facts with the end notes to back them up. Anyone who believes in our freedoms and rights should seriously read this book and listen to Mr. Lawrence if your local radio station invites him as a guest. There are many things in this book that exposes the lies and deceipt that seems to have become so common place in our society and government.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truth enrages liberal koolaide drinkers, July 13, 2006
By

This review is from: The Making of a Police State: The Socialist Agenda for America (Paperback)
I listened to this author's interview with Tom Hartman and unlike albabe (san francisco) I did read the book. This person albabe proves the Koolaid drinkers are the looney left listening to Tom Hartman.

Steve Lawrence gave Tom as good as he got and cited facts Tom couldn't refute. When Tom began to lose his bogus global warming argument he quickly changed the subject. Tom, like Gore, ignores the 19,000 scientists who signed a statement disputing the global warming theory presented in Gore's propaganda film. These so-called comments, as albabe calls them, are in-depth studies by experts in climatology and other fields in the sudy of weather patterns and peer reviewed by the leading experts in these fields. Only a very small fraction of Gore's "experts" actually work in the climate field.

While some of the justices on the USSC were appointed by conservative presidents, their rulings have increasingly become liberal as cited in Lawrence's book. Tom revealed how much of a socialist he is when he said he thinks the government has the right to tell you what to do with your private property with "shared values" of the community. Look up the UN's Agenda 21 and notice the similarities.

If you are interested in real politics you should read this book and look into the endnotes listed in this book and you will be enlightened as opposed to listening the looney left who's thinking is very narrow and shortsighted.

One thing albabe and I agree on is listen to this interview. You will see Tom stutter and stammer when presented with hard facts and quickly change the subject before more facts shot his bogus global argument to pieces.

When you read this book you will see Lawrence is nothing close to a Koolaid drinker. In this book you will find the references to learned scientists in the field they actually study in. After reading this book and listening to people such as albabe, its obvious the Koolaid drinkers are the looney left.

1.0 out of 5 stars 'Socialism" is not the enemy this author claims", April 2, 2009
By
This review is from: The Making of a Police State: The Socialist Agenda for America (Paperback)
I agree with the authors claims about the horrors of tasers but his ranting and raving about how "Socialists" and "Socialism" are to blame is just laughable! This writer can certainly put together headlines and the awful stories about innocent people who have been hurt by these tasers, but as a social anthropologist he fails miserably! If we had more socialism in this country we would have better control of our own lives. Every "socialist" institution the American government has created over the years has been an overwhelming success. This is because these activities are governed with oversight by our Congressional representatives and are responsive to citizen complaint. When you take the politics out of an organization it runs more smoothly, efficiently, and it is less costly. This is one of the main reasons we need "socialized" medical care in the form of HR 676 "Medicare for all".

1.0 out of 5 stars You have got to be kidding..., July 12, 2006
By
albabe (san francisco) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Making of a Police State: The Socialist Agenda for America (Paperback)
This guy is a serious macaroon. He's an obtuse noodlebrain with delusions of linear objectivity.

As an example: His remarks and theory about Global Warming and it's political aspects and ramifications - are based on comments by the fellas that are/were being paid by Exxon, as opposed to all the peer-reviewed comments and articles.

And he thinks the Supreme Court is run by "Liberals" ... Completely boopshooby...

If you are interested in real politics, as opposed to twisted rhetoric... Do a search on line to listen to Thom Hartman eat him alive.

Stop drinking the Koolaid and read something by learned scientists and theoreticians rather than some fast-talking posturing macaroon.
