5.0 out of 5 stars Mr. Symington conveys the essence of psychoanalysis., March 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Making of a Psychotherapist (Hardcover)
Neville Symington presents the essence of psychoanalytic training and experience in a most humane and comprehensible manner. His descriptions of the essential relationship in the psychoanalytic process conveys the importance of not only the theory and the skill, but also the creativity and emotional availability necessary for this process to be curative. This book, like psychoanalysis, is difficult to describe in that both the book and psychoanalysis need to be experienced emotionally and psychologically. I would recommend this book to any student of psychoanalysis, psychotherapy and related fields. I have used it in the education of graduate students in the program that I direct. It is a welcome addition to the humane services.
