4.0 out of 5 stars SCSI commands, cablling and termination clearly explained

This review is from: Making SCSI Work (Paperback)
For most average PC types who have lived in an IDE device world, this book takes the mystery out of SCSI. Basic SCSI, from SASI to SCSI-3, is examined resulting in a thorough understanding. Armed with these understandings, many old SCSI myths and previous "expert" methods are disproven. SCSI interconnection, interfaces and connectors are discussed and clearly illustrated. Termination methods are reviewed and made understandable to almost anyone. Cabling methods and construction are thoroughly explained. A section on SCSI troubleshooting is especially valuable. SCSI protocols are discussed in detail. Overall, this book is a good read and a reference for all but the person who is already a "SCSI Expert".

1.0 out of 5 stars don't by this book unless your a scsi expert, June 24, 2003

This review is from: Making SCSI Work (Paperback)
This book is purported to be easy to read and very helpful, but only if you have worked on SCSI systems for some time. It does not show what scsi parts look like, where a terminator should go or what it looks like, or where jumpers should go. For someone like me that has worked on IBM clones for years and never ran into anything SCSI this book works great to set my coffee cup on and nothing more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Making SCSI Understandable, December 6, 2002
By
This review is from: Making SCSI Work (Paperback)
Excellent source of SCSI information. This book demystifies SCSI and is easily understandable by any novice to this subject. This is not an easy subject to understand yet the authors have made it so with clear explainations, diagrams and references. SCSI hardware clearly is the ideal way to extend information between peripherals and computers. The book offers a solid base of understanding of a very important interface. It really helps end users for what to look for when problems occur in their systems.
