Art activities offer children sensorial experiences, a sense of mastery and self-esteem, all of which have been proven to be of critical importance to all children. Focusing on the inherent strenghts and needs of young children, the book stimulates the senses through manipulation and exploration, arouses curiosity and creativity and develops a sense of mastery. Activities are grouped by primary modality for ease of use. An introductory page to each activity gives background information about the sense, lists vocabulary and related concepts, basic objectives, and required materials. Easy-to-follow step-by-step procedures are illustrated by line drawings. In addition, adaptations, modifications, and alternative instructional strategies are suggested for children with special needs in inclusive early childhood classrooms. Recommended for parents and educators alike.
