Highly unrecommended. Waste of time. There are better books out there., January 24, 2011
This review is from: Making Sense of Grammar (Paperback)
Hi,
I was looking for a ' light , easy-to-stick-on-to' kind of a Grammar refresh guide for my GMAT Prep and I came across this in the library. I know there are a number of books on Grammar, but saw this one on shelf, I was merely attracted by the title .I thought this would be concise and lucid & of all - interesting.
After around 50 odd pages I felt as if I landed up on a boring book with confusing examples. I precluded the thought of heaf reading this book so continued. Tautology followed. I finally gave up on page 110 when I realized that the confsing & convulating examples are actually getting over me. Looked at my watch and realized that I was ted over 50 mins and acheived nothing! Especially the words noun, verb, preposition etc are all mentioned in the first 100 pages , even before explaining what they mean . Im sure a beginner would tear his head apart .
I would highly recommend the author to revise the content flow and give straight forward examples and explainations of the subject matter.
Left the book and bought a better one from the web. Im glad I dint waste anymore time and energy on this book.
WOuld definately not recommend this book. I would have named the book I read (and completed my grammar revision in just a day) , but It would destroy the essence of this review and seem like an advertisement .
