I read this book during a serious illness. The forty chapters average 3 pages each. Each chapter explores one thought in clear language that can be grasped even by someone very ill on pain medication. The book gave me hope, comfort, and strengthened both my faith and my will to endure. Each chapter used quotes from the Bible, Book of Mormon, and other LDS works to flesh out its concepts, but the book would be helpful to any Christian. The book is divided into 4 sections. Each section has an illustrated page which presents an additional idea that summarizes the section, so you end up with 44 topics to think about. Chapters that helped me the most include: Visiting Here in Weakness, Glimpses of Growth, He Searches the Heart, Dispelling Fear, He Delivers, Surrounded by Angels, His Comfort, The Inward Miracle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book, March 25, 2009
This review is from: Making Sense of Suffering (Hardcover)
This book is an absolute gift for anyone going through and trying to understand suffering. It helps you to realize the growth that can occur during trials and how our patience helps refine us. It provides comfort by reminding you that you are not alone and by giving solid advice on how to find strength. The author uses scriptures, examples and beautiful language and the short chapters make it easy to read. Instead of giving excuses for why God allows suffering it helps you see purpose and find hope.

This book is amazing! It is full of truth and the Author is absolutely wonderful! I highly recommend reading this especially when there is a lot of suffering going on in your life. It helps to remind us what the Savior has done for us and that the trials we have in our life will only make us stronger if we just turn to Him.

The book arrived promptly and in excellent condition. I bought it "used", but it looks new--no wear and tear that I can find. Extremely pleased.
