5.0 out of 5 stars It's Alive!
History is alive and well in this creative book!

From elementary school to high school, "Making Social Studies Come Alive" will aid both teacher and student. The projects are "do-able," enjoyable, AND educational.

This book deserves to be on the honor roll! A+!

2.0 out of 5 stars Eurocentric focus
This book had lots of creative ideas but I was appalled that the authors were so Eurocentric in the people and places represented in their activities. They need to revise their content to reflect more contributions and content from other continents. This book has a definite White-European bias and I would not recommend it for this reason.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Source for Project Ideas, November 30, 2008
By
This review is from: Making Social Studies Come Alive (Grades 4-8) (Paperback)
Originally I expected a pretty detailed listing of lesson ideas and the likes and was a little disappointed when I did not get these things. However, what the book did provide me was a large number of easily adaptable project ideas and instructions that really allow the students to search, analyze and get creative with their Social Studies. Some of the instructions are a bit vague or open to teacher interpretation, depending on how you look at it. Overall, a good, solid resource book for any Social Studies teacher, especially those who teach with a hands-on approach to learning.
