Most Helpful Customer Reviews

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful By Arthur Digbee VINE VOICE on November 4, 2011
Format: Paperback
Before the Civil War, most of the tour guides in Mammoth Cave were slaves. A few developed national reputations, giving them licenses not afforded other slaves. They were also in the habit of giving orders to white guests while underground, orders that the tourists accepted as a matter of course.

This book provides an interesting window into these interesting people. It's a short and easy read with many photographs, well worth picking up at the park or before your visit.
