Author's response,
By
This review is from: Making Waves: Irving Dardik and His Superwave Principle (Hardcover)
In his/her short "review," "jubjub" makes the extremely serious accusation that either I, as author, or Irving Dardik, as the subject of the book, must have "paid" some of the reviewers, because of their positive comments. ("Jubjub" uses the derogatory term "infomercial language.") While I refrain from stooping to respond to such a base claim, I would ask why "jubjub" would seek to hide behind a mask of anonymity while making such a claim about me in such a public arena? Does she/he not have the decency or courage to simply identify themselves? What does she/he have to hide, if anything? (In entering this "review," I was asked to select a rating; as author, I simply entered its current rating, not wishing to skew the rate either way.)

nice story, no details re: how to do it,

This review is from: Making Waves: Irving Dardik and His Superwave Principle (Hardcover)
I really liked the book, on a literary level. It was well written, engaging, and thought provoking. However, it really fails, and fails badly at giving the how to's. I'd love to try the protocol the Dradik has developed and the book describes, but there just isn't enough detail about how to institute it. i feel like I was shown a menu and then told I couldn't ordewr the food. From what I undersatnd, Dardi charges $5,ooo a month to enroll in his program! That leaves out most of the planet. So much for sharing usable information.

Life Growing Up With Irving Dardik,
This review is from: Making Waves: Irving Dardik and His Superwave Principle (Hardcover)
Being Irving Dardik's daughter has been miraculous not because of his life and world changing ideas that I grown up luckily knowing, but because of the lives I have personally seen him save. The ever changing circle of people that have opened their eyes to the theory, were all forever changed both mentally and physically in ways that conventional science does not think possible. His underlying principle has brought so many to tears of joy, thanking him for what has, and will continue to bring to the world. Because I have personally seen this happen, my review of this book, and my father's theory in general, is not skewed; I base this review on the people he has touched. This biography explains impeccably the journey that my Father had to go through to be recognized, and even more incredibly admired, by renowned physicists all over the world. I highly recommend reading this book to get the full story of what his theory is, and how it works.

Revolutionary Wellness Program Works,
This review is from: Making Waves: Irving Dardik and His Superwave Principle (Hardcover)
I have had personal experience with Irving Dardik's revolutionary wellness program, and I can vouch for its efficacy. Making Waves tells the story of Dardik's journey to developing a revolutionary approach to health and disease, based on his SuperWave Principle. The Principle is far reaching, and goes far beyond the health/disease realm. It's a terrific read, and details Dardik's struggle with the medical establishment, and his ultimate vindication. I recommend the book to anyone who is interested in learning more about their own body, and about the interconnectedness of nature throughout all of nature. It's a true story, but it's so fantastic that it reads like a novel!

A book and a theory that can change your life,
By
This review is from: Making Waves: Irving Dardik and His Superwave Principle (Hardcover)
This is a groundbreaking book that should be read by anyone and everyone, especially those struggling with their health. As a person living with MS for over 15 years and doing the exercise program described in this book for 13 of those years, I am speaking from experience.
Without question this program has given me a life to look forward to. I don't want to even think of what my life would be like today had I not been connected with Irv over a decade ago. Now years later, my family and I would all agree that our decision to invest in this unique health program was worth every single penny! Compared to the the cost of a lifetime of medication and therapy and heartache... I got a bargain. Lucky for you, you can start the program for less than $20 for this book. Get the book. Do the program. You'll be glad you did. I know I am.

Making waves,

This review is from: Making Waves: Irving Dardik and His Superwave Principle (Hardcover)
This book is a beautiful synthesis of the history of our worlds transformation and the sceptics during these periods. Woven throughout this rich history is to understand and appreciate the minds of our great scientists. Those like Dr.Dardick, the ones before him and the ones that will come after him. It compels all of us to appreciate the courage, conviction and passion of scientists who have a dream or vision for a better world and how they continue to push on to serve mankind. Dr Lewin eloquently brings to life this very notion of human creativity and the story of a man who continues to make waves. It is a book that is hard to put down. Reading it makes you feel hopeful and to know that all things are possible.

Intuitive revolutionary idea,
By laser eyes (Cambridge, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Making Waves: Irving Dardik and His Superwave Principle (Hardcover)
As a science writer Roger Lewin has always been on the cutting edge of science and as a gifted writer he has made the most difficult scientific concepts read like a novel. He does it again in "Making Waves." Weaving a biography, science, and the evolution of a revolutionary idea, Lewin hits on a big idea, that we can "cause health" rather than attack disease. Beyond the intellectual argument, the power of "Making Waves" strikes an intuitive chord. In a society where the pace is fast and flat, where we grow ever more disconnected from nature's cycles, intuitively it makes sense that if we recreate cycles of exertion and rest, of action and reflection, that we will be healthier because we are in rhythm with nature. It's provocative to look at life through the lens of waves, cycles rhythms or lack of them--according to Dardik everything is waves.
Although controversial, Dardik has to be commended for his tenacity against a lot of resistance. From Galileo to Darwin, new ideas are not received quickly--people resist change when their foundation of beliefs are challenged. But like his predecessors, Dardik perserveres because he has a gem of truth that can revolutionize our world--from cold fusion, metallurgy, to health. This book is a great and fast read and will leave you thinking. It offers ideas for small actions we can all do to get back into sync with ourselves and with nature. And for those with chronic disease it is a ray of hope.

Thought-proving. A well-written popular science book about Dardik, not marketing for his theories,
By
This review is from: Making Waves: Irving Dardik and His Superwave Principle (Hardcover)
I just finished reading the book, and I have classify it as well-written, worth reading, and thought-proving. I'm not one to subscribe easily to the theories outlined, but there is certainly a lot of material to make you think - even if you are skeptical about any new age theories. It's important to make clear this is not a self-help book, it's a popular science book about Dardik and you can form your own opinion at the end. I suspect some other reviewers have made assumptions about the book without reading it.
It's not a hard-sell for Dardik's theories. On balance I'd say that the book is more ABOUT Dardik and his theories, than a PROMOTION of his theories. Yes, it's a fine line (so many might disagree with me), because the author is more a fan than a skeptic, but at the same time he is careful to point out that the empirical studies appear to be consistent with the theory rather than prove it. The author is clearly a balanced popular-science writer and not a marketing mouthpiece for Dardik. As for some reviews enthusiastically endorsing the book, I do find them suspiciously well-written to have come from the "ordinary public". I wouldn't for a minute suspect the author Mr. Lewin to be behind this (or even Dardik who probably has much better things to do with his time)... however the style of their language does make me stop and think. For example, one of the reviews says "Lucky for you, you can start the program for less than $20 for this book. Get the book. Do the program. You'll be glad you did. I know I am." - well, actually the book does not outline the program nor does even the website for Dardik's company - you have to sign up for their program. Also I noted that many of these gushing reviews were written by reviewers who have not written any other reviews on amazon. In the book, the lack of detail on the program itself is a pro and a con. On one hand, the author clearly didn't intend to directly promote or detail the program. On the other hand, having piqued my interest it would have been nice to be able to apply the theory to my own training for a while (without having to join up with a commercial organization). The book was published in 2005 meaning it was probably written in 2004, and I've been unable to find any information yet about what happened since. It would certainly be useful to know if any further clinical trials were conducted, whether any top athletes use Dardik's methods in their training and what are the outcomes, whether the steel-production processes they developed in the lab have been commercialized, etc. So again, this is not book marketing a new age theory, it is a popular science book that is worth reading and you can make up your own mind afterwards where you stand on the theories outlined.

Promising approach to health, an intriguing view of life,
By
This review is from: Making Waves: Irving Dardik and His Superwave Principle (Hardcover)
Dardik's work is, IMO, profound and still in its infancy. He offers a model of how both life and the physical world 'work'. Most immediately and as a doctor, Dardik focused initially on how our Western life-style works against human performance, and produces chronic disease -- and what may be done to reverse this by strengthening the body's natural ability to create health.
Lewin's book is an excellent introduction for both lay people and subject experts. Lewin describes well the important first practical applications in health and physics of Dardik's concept of SuperWaves. It is clear that applications will continue to be discovered as others in other fields, such as politics, sociology and psychology, consider the implications of Superwaves. Lewin's book is a handy entry into this model of how both life and the physical world work, and a good launching point for people who find traditional models inadequate. At the same time, Lewin's book offers a fascinating look into the world of creative people who tackle areas in which a prevailing wisdom is (too) well-entrenched. It is a world of joyous intellectual breakthroughs and of numbing institutional defeats, of lasting friendships and loyal support and of belligerent personal attacks. This world requires perseverance, sacrifice, enduring curiosity and open-mindedness, and as with all the great pioneers of history, it is fortunate that Dardik has these aplenty, and that the benefits of his insights are thus entering into our lives. Lewin's book is a great help in furthering this tendentious, difficult, important and rewarding process. Lawrence de Bivort |
