4.0 out of 5 stars Very Steamy!, April 5, 2006

This review is from: Making Waves (Signature Select) (Mass Market Paperback)
Leto knows how to deliver when it comes to heat and sensuality! The tie in to the story within the story is great! Makes you wish you were Tessa acting out all those steamy scenes with Colt yourself. It's also nice how Tessa learns to open up and allow herself to love after being burned so badly in the past.

Tessa Dalton survived a very damaging blow to her career as renown author Charlene Perrault, a result of her highly publicized divorce. Her ex-husband Daniel accuses her of being a nymphomaniac because of her erotic fairytales. Colton Granger, a well renown journalist for the Chicago Sun Times, followed Tessa's divorce very closely and wrote articles questioning the veracity of Daniel's claims. Cole meets Tessa at her attorney Karen's home and becomes fascinated by the captivating, sharp-witted woman. Tessa feels an instant tingle whenever they are within ten feet of the other. Cole wants to know the real Charlene Perrault, aka Tessa. He hands her his business card in case she wants to answer his questions.

Tessa decides to live on private island in Florida keys. Here she proclaims to live an outlandish lifestyle befitting her reputation. Cole and Tessa's agent keep urging her to start writing again. Tessa comes up with a steaming tale that is based on mythology and writes a very erotic scene. After some deliberation she sends the scene to Cole via email for his opinion. He is very amused and decides to answer her by writing an smoldering scene of his own from the hero Reides's point of view. Their emails sizzle with the erotic scenes they send back and forth.

When Tessa gets the story almost completed, she wants to get the book published. There is only one drawback. She must get Cole Granger to agree to allow them to publish the book. Cole has his own agenda and wants Tessa no matter what the cost. Cole doesn't care that she has a less than sterling reputation that would upset his parents. Cole plays hardball, telling Tessa that they must act out the first scene from the book in real life. He as Reides as she takes the role of Alina. The setting is very intense and their attraction to each other becomes a smoldering sea of lust and passion. Will Tessa get Cole to agree to publish this book? Is there a future for Tessa and Cole?

Julie Elizabeth Leto's Making Waves is a very enjoyable tale for anyone who loves highly sensual stories. It is a sizzling story of two people, from different walks of life, coming together expressing their intense desires. The concept of erotic tales based in mythology was refreshing and very enjoyable to read. I have read many other books by Ms. Leto and her stories just seem to get better and better. I am anxiously awaiting her next book. I highly recommend Making Waves!

5.0 out of 5 stars solid contemporary romance, July 15, 2005
This review is from: Making Waves (Signature Select) (Mass Market Paperback)
During the divorce hearing, the Prince of West Palm Beach Daniel Reese and his team selected by his powerful father lie on the witness stand that his soon to be ex-wife Tessa Dalton is a sexual deviant as they want part of her wealth. The proof they insist that she sleeps with any male is that she writes erotic fairy tales that they hint are her memoirs. The media loves scandal especially that of a socialite and she becomes the nymphomaniac butt of their stories and jokes. Her friends flee her side as they do not want her deviant taint to touch them.

Surprisingly nationally acclaimed reporter Colton Granger is the exception as he defends her in his column while attacking the father-in-law. Colin has a reputation for honesty and encourages Tessa to get back into writing. She does, but it is not the same until he collaborates with her. As they work together, they fall in love, but someone plans to use the smut written with the slut as a career move not caring what happens to either Colton or Tessa.

MAKING WAVES is a solid contemporary romance starring two intrepid lead characters and a powerful secondary cast. The tale focuses on how a powerful individual can manipulate and buy public opinion with innuendoes, hyperboles, and fabrications if the media fails to do its job. Readers will especially root for Tessa to overcome her reluctance to trust anyone after her reputation is nuked by her vicious former father-in-law.
