This book was amazing. I am the most unorganized person around and it has really helped me get a handle on the clutter. Mrs. Salzman has a wonderful way of making it simple. This book has been a wonderful addition to my home.

I needed this book,
This review is from: Making Your Home a Haven: Stragegies for the Domestically Challenged (Paperback)
I was't sure I even wanted to know anything Cyndy could teach me about housework. It's not that my house is dirty, I just believe in relaxed maintenance. But the more I read, the more she made sense. Organization is the key word, and I'm getting there. Her tips about storage and controlilng clutter are worth the price of the book.
I really needed the one about drowning in a sea of paper, and the recipes in the back of the book are great. This is one book I'll refer back to time after time. Thanks to Cyndy, I can actually find things now. Believe me, that's a great improvement.

Excellent book! Biblically sound without being preachy. Lots of humorous stories and real advice. Cyndy gives advice we can follow, no Martha Stewart answers- just practical solutions for real people. Believable because she's been there & done that! Common sense solutions to everyday problems. I bought this book for all my friends -they kept asking for my copy!

Well-Written, Motivational Read,
By Brenda Nixon (Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Making Your Home a Haven: Stragegies for the Domestically Challenged (Paperback)
As an author of parenting books,The Birth to Five Book: Confident Childrearing Right from the Start, it's my honor to read other books that also contribute to better homes and family life.
Salzmann's Making Your Home a Haven is well-written, realistic and motivational. From her own experiences the author illustrates, often humorously, important messages about making our homes a safe, nurturing, inviting place for today's busy family. Our society is built upon the family unit and this book not only values that principle but inspires the reader with practical ways to preserve the family. Each chapter closes with a GOING DEEPER section of thought-provoking questions and introspection exercises. There are also recipes, recycling ideas, a section on hospitality, and supplemental resources. While this book is written by and for a Christian it is NOT preachy nor smack of oppressive attitudes towards women. I recommend it as an encouragement gift to young couples who want to build an enjoyable future together. It'd also make an excellent group study.

I purchased this book along with her "Occasional Cook" book. This has a great strategy for organizing your home and I have begun to put a lot of her ideas to practice. Again, I wish I had paid attention to the description before ordering as this book has a lot of religious references and commentary. If you're a different religion or non-denomination it can be annoying but it's easy to skip through it and get to the organizing information. Great book if you need help in the cleaning/organizing your home department like I do!

Honest and practical,
By The Irisher (Between rain drops and coffee shops) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Making Your Home a Haven: Stragegies for the Domestically Challenged (Paperback)
I loved her approach of making prayer/meditation the foundation for the day. There were many great hands-on ideas that were practical for me, as a mother of four elementary-aged children. I could relate to her honesty and sticking to practicalities, yet appreciating the differences in every household.
If you struggle at all with the peace in your home, and more pointedly with the struggle of cleaning and tidiness, this book will be a lifesaver.
