Inspiring Combination, March 21, 2007
This review is from: Making Your Thoughts Work For You 4-CD Live Lecture (Audio CD)
What a dynamic, inspiring combination - Wayne Dyer and Byron Katie together. The CD begins with Dr. Dyer speaking about his own spiritual adventures and the challenges he has recently and not-so-recently faced and overcome and the stories of several people he has encountered who have overcome obstacles placed by their beliefs and thoughts. He talks about the Tao Te Ching and how it has affected his overcoming of obstacles as well - how it has changed his own thinking and that of others. He also talks of his friendship with Byron Katie and in doing "the Work" which is Byron Katie's technique for getting to a deeper level of spiritual understanding of events and situations in one's life. In the next portion of the CD, Byron Katie comes on, and with just a brief introduction, launches right into "the Work" with several participants. The sessions are very moving and representative of the kinds of deep understandings that often come from doing "the Work." Finally, the last portion is a question and answer session with the audience. All in all, it's a very inspiring overview of both authors work. It's especially good, obviously, with recognizing and identifying thoughts and belief systems that may be disabling your life.

A nice awakeng! This will make your question your beliefs!, May 18, 2007
This review is from: Making Your Thoughts Work For You 4-CD Live Lecture (Audio CD)
I've been an all time fan of Dr. Wayne Dyer and Dr. Deepak Chopra. The first of the four CD-ROMs is where Dr. Dyer talks about the same things he pretty much always talks about ... spirit and our thoughts. Nothing striking and out of the ordinary relative to what we have heard in the past. He's still good!
Though the second and third CD-ROMS is where Byron Katie comes in! She is stellar! Amazing! If you've been to hell and back, been whipped around by life, or are in deep pain and struggling within... do yourself a favor and buy this just to listen to Byron Katie.. Not promising here that you will be cured and suddenly floating on blissful clouds... but Byron Katie is one who does not just give you all the Spiritual Bookish Mumbo Jumbo Jiberish... Her's is based on solid experience and you can hear and feel it emanating from that space within her. She's good and her number one question to the audience about their beliefs and deeply embedded patterns of thinking and living is ~ "Is it True?"... she challenges you and I am sure that it will get even the most intelligent amongst us to pause and question themselves... no, she does not plant doubts, rather she gets you to do a reality check in areas of your life that are dark, gloomy, and full of pain. She does this skillfully and Dr. Wayne Dyer tells the audience that she's a master indeed!
The highlight of this product is Byron Katie, and suprisingly though his product, not Dr. Wayne Dyer.. you will hear the audience reflect that as Dr. Wayne Dyer tries to gain some of the spot light for himself too :-) He's used to that stuff but now there's Byron Katie sharing the platform with him, and shining beautifully because she speaks from a rich experience base. Dr. Wayne Dyer gazes in awe.. lol!
Worth the investment!

Just not sure about Byron Katie..., March 28, 2007
This review is from: Making Your Thoughts Work For You 4-CD Live Lecture (Audio CD)
I love Wayne Dyer - I've seen him live 3 times, have enjoyed every minute of it and have re-read several of his books. So you see, I'm INTO this kind of stuff. This CD however is a bit of a disappointment, as it feels like a re-hash of things you've already heard (especially if you keep up with his latest writings or Podcasts.) I believe it was from a live event they did together last summer. Not a terrible program, just nothing fresh ( same jokes, same examples given)
Now for Byron Katie---I really have a hard time with her. I have read a couple of her books and listened to her a number of times. I really WANT to like her. I listen---it makes sense, and then it seems that every time (this CD included) her process of `The Work" starts to go off the deep end for and turns into new-age gobblygook. Her method of reasoning for every situation begins to sound like random nonsense to me, no matter how hard I try to get into it. You could probably say the same about Dyer, yet I find his approach more sincere and down to earth. Her habit of calling everyone `sweetheart' really becomes grating after awhile as well.
